There should be a decent supply of diesel Suburbans of most year models if you want something that big. Not sure about diesels in the slightly smaller Blazer, but that would almost definitely only include the full sized Blazers, not the small S10 Blazer or the new TrailBlazer. And I don't think I've ever heard of a diesel Bronco, even in the old full sized version, nor have I heard of any diesel RamCharger. The down side on any of these is that what you are most likely to find in the used market with a diesel already has at least 150K miles before anybody wants to part with it. The Jimmy I have is a bit bulky, wider than a Full Size Jeep, but the visibility is great and it's very practical. Getting around 20mpg or so with it. But this one, being an '83, is in so-so shape. Needs a lot of TLC before I'd claim it as one of my favorites. ;) I had one about 10 years ago and got rid of it for the same basic reasons... just too wide. The newer one I saw was narrower... in other news I drove the WJ to work so I could bring my bike in... going to ride at lunch to get in shape... and man, that 4.0L is fast... SuperDawg will flat out move with 4.10's and that 4.0. As long as we can keep the weight down around the 4,100lb mark that it is now... Was thinking about maybe making a light duty dump bed on my stepside, but I think it'll add too much weight... With the 4.0L and 4.10's I'm pretty sure superdawg will be ok hauling my J10 trailer... Let me know if you hear of any nice newer model (newer than '83... ;) GM 2 dr Blazer types... 4 dr would be fine, but NO suburbans... If I wanted to berth the Queen Mary I'd just get a Dodge Cummins TD PU. :) Of course I could take a Wagoneer and drop it on this GMC chassis, but only if Curtis is able to fabricate the rear barn doors off of Rambo (my '67 J100 Panel that's at the Monster Garage south... :) later, john On Mon, 11 Oct 2004 Alec_Cordova-at-Dell.com wrote: >-->I seem to recall both Chevy and Ford limiting diesel offerings to stuff >-->built on the 3/4- or 1-ton truck platforms, but not the 1/2-tonners, so >-->for example you could find diesel Excursions, but not diesel >-->Expeditions. >--> >-->There should be a decent supply of diesel Suburbans of most year models >-->if you want something that big. Sounds like it has an international flavor though... could be a problem... plus I'm looking for something that is a luxury type Diesel rig, not a workhorse only. Not excited about a pickup but will consider a short wheelbase rig with extended cab... Not interested in creating my own, never really works out all that well... doing a 4.0L swap in place of a 4.2L of course isn't a big deal... but going with the 6.2L V8 Diesel instead would be... :) I love doing the design and puttering and used to enjoy the challenge of the swaps, but is it just me or is there less time to get stuff done or what? :) john On Mon, 11 Oct 2004, Jim Blair wrote: >--> A: I have a copy of Offroad Adventures magazine with the various full >-->size pickup diesels (that are pre-computer controlled) that the big 3 came >-->out with.
