My fleet includes a 91 300D. Awesome car, great fuel economy, safe and a joy to drive. I put about 5000 mile a quarter on her and she gives me 36 miles to the gallon of B20. All I could ask for is 4-matic and a 5-speed transmission. Not offered by MB so I guess I will have to build it myself someday after I finish the current truck project below: I also have a '75 Dodge Power Wagon with an extended cab and a short box. I have had it for years and I have finally taken the plunge and pulled the 360 gasser to be replaced with a Cummins Turbo Diesel. It will also get a 1 ton suspension, NV 4500 trans, and a NP 205 transfer case. I have most of the parts lined up and the conversion is in process. I plan to set it up for WVO and dino. Should be a great rig when done. Next will be a 4BT in a late 70's Dodge Van with the Pathfinder 4X4 conversion... My other dream is to repower my 25' Bertram Sportfish with diesels. MB 5 cylinders maybe? 4BT's? Hmmmm. I also hear that Mercruiser has a repower package for diesel/IO's... I think I can probably piece it together on my own for less... and have more fun. The list goes on and on. There is a great Deep Purple song - Knocking at You Back Door. There is a line from this song that I would venture to guess many of us live by: "It's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase". Think about it. Most of you guys I guess are on the West coast, but if anyone in the southern New England area would like to stop by or chat, let me know. Call me crazy if you want, but I will just take it as a complement! Best money I've ever spent. The ride is still comfortable, but the handling is now incredibly tight and controlled. A good alternative to Boge or Bilstein.
