Seems he sustained some trail damage while four wheeling it... yes, we know, it was not a 4x4... mild damage really, a $16 oil pan... a cut tire... anyway, he left the car overnight against the consul of friends and parent and when he returned it was vandalized beyond repair... :( (We paid $200 for the car because it had rear end damage (which we fixed) and over 275,000 miles. He drove it over 1,600 miles without trouble and would have kept driving it had it not been vandalized...) http://www.wagoneers.com/DieselBenz/CARS/Marks-82-300D/the-last-day/ ...did you ever think you'd see a Mercedes Diesel pulling a wheelie? or is it taking flight? ...see what happens when I take the Sawzall away from my son... So far he hasn't had any trail damage with the '87 XJ... I guess a Jeep works better for him. :) (I may scan these pictures in, just snapped a picture of them with my digital camera...) later, john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 6 Nov 2004 23:27:48 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] updated web page I updated the listing of vehicles I've owned to include some pictures... http://www.wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 2004 11:05:02 -0600 From: "Alec Cordova" Subject: RE: [db] updated web page Just for the sake of historical accuracy, didn't the Volvo 240 family, like your number 29 vehicle, have just a 4 cylinder engine? I thought only the 260 family used a 6, with Volvo using the second digit of the model name for cylinder count, a legacy from when they also used the third digit for door count (142, 144, 145), rather than the (no longer accurate) MB style of using the engine displacement for the model name. We moved the car from outside the carport into the carport... then installed the rear pass window, and back out again. I'm heading down to the Benz dealer tomorrow to pick up some parts... This thing is in very nice shape... should be a good runner. >From what I can tell it was serviced by a decent shop here in town. Found some stickers... It must have been in a mild fender bender and given to Volunteers of America. The guy even threw in a set of "new" tires for it. He bailed on the project in part because he doesn't know Diesels and because he's picking up a nice Lexus. Works for me. We'll have this 300d ready to sell by next weekend. standby for other news... ;) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1603 **********************************
