First of all, I would like to thank the host and moderator of this list. It is an invaluable resource to me. (Who is the moderator/list owner anyway?) Second, a question or perhaps a comment: It seems like there is a great deal of non-benz material being posted to this list recently. I am on a lot of lists, and I prefer the ones I am on (with some exceptions) to be fairly well narrow in scope to reduce the volume of email. I would prefer it if there were fewer OT posts to this list. That is just my preference, mind you. I am comfortable with the delete key. I only mention in it case others have noticed and/or mind. If no one else thinks this is an issue, I will shut up and and continue to delete the approximately 42.768%[1] of email that is not diesel benz related. Thanks. Apology not necessary. It may be that everyone on the list is ok with it, in which case *I* need to shut up. If people do want less non-diesel content, then this is just a friendly reminder. I know I certainly have a tendancy to go off on tangents when excited about something. In this case, there is still no need for an apology. This list does tend to wander off topic, but most of us don't seem to mind. It has simply become part of the dynamic around here. While diesel Benzes link us together, we each have our distinct secondary attractions, like John and his Jeeps or Kevin and his beloved Honda [ ;-) ]. John usually manages to tie things back to diesel Benzes just because he appreciates the glorious OM617 5 cylinder diesel and keeps trying to figure out ways to enjoy that motor in his other vehicles. As you may have noticed, this provides endless entertainment for the rest of us. And since the rest of us are diesel Benz fans, does entertaining us by any means at least loosely qualify as "keeping it Diesel Benz related?" The only problem is the donor vehicle used to be my daily driver up until 6:00 PM Tuesday night. Long story short, I hit a couch (yes, a couch) at 75 MPH in the high speed lane on my way home from work. Ran completely over it. In doing so, I blew my driver's front tire. I didn't know this when I tried to dodge the OTTOMAN that was in the road AFTER the couch. The lack of tire made evasive maneuvers (or more specifically, controlling the car after evasive maneuvers) impossible, which put me first into the left guard rail (driver's front end damage), then a 280 degree spin, which culminated in the driver's side rear end hitting the right guard rail, facing oncoming traffic. Pictures can be seen here: http://www.wrxtra.com/Misc/Automotive/Mercedes/Accident I am fine, but my car is probably totalled. They did find the person responsible for redecorating the highway. As soon as the state police give me his info, I will be going after his insurance. I figured this was a strange enough story that it might interest some of you. Sadly, another 123 chassis MB bites the dust. :( Hopefully everyone else is doing better this week...
