Thank you all, there seems to be a good consensus that it relates to the vacuum system, so I will be checking that tomorrow. PS. Not just for me but for everyone you've helped here. What a great group of people for problem solving and helping fellow MB diesel owners' get the best value for their maintenance dollar. Or dollars I think would be the more appropriate word. Thank you so very much and best wishes for the new year. Doncha think you're taking advantage of a fellow lister? Was Christmas THAT expensive??? Noah! I'm here to save you a few bucks.... A factory rebuilt transmission is around $2500, plus labor. If you want to go the $7500 route, throw in a factory rebuilt engine for $3500, a new MBTex interior for around $1000 and rework the suspension. After spending that $7500, I'd gladly give you $3500 for it, provided you replaced the automatic transmission with a manual one... OK...So I saved you $5000. Enjoy your savings.... ;-) Jon '84 300SD "Bruno" ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1674 **********************************
