I've been concerned about transmissions and so on because things went stupid after service... after tracing all the lines, even the ones not directly involved, invariably I find a dangling tube, hose, connection or bracket... and it's not just a Benz phenomenon... :) john On Wed, 29 Dec 2004, Robert Chase wrote: >-->Hey, >--> >--> >-->Just did the purge and changed the fuel filters.... I simply can't remember where the light comes from... too many cars, too many years... but either way, pulling the console cover off is by far the easiest place to start. :) john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://wagoneers.com ** ** http://freegift.net ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Dec 2004 16:50:10 -0500 From: "Jim Hoffman" Subject: Re: [db] Strange Vibrations ROBERT!!! A cold diesel isn't making fire as well as a nice warm one, so it will be a little rough until everything heats up nicely. After I did my Glowplugs I testdrove the car and it was severely flairing in its shifts.... I thought that the transmission was bad or I knocked something loose in the Vacuum system.... My parts guy told me to disconnect the line to the Vacuum modulator and if the transmission shifted real hard that my transmission was ok I just had another issue..... I poured over the Vacuum system for several hours only to discover that I knocked loose a linkage between the Fuel injection system and the Vacumm modulator for the transmission..... I clipped the linkage back in place and my car shifted great...... Im just hoping that the vibration issue is something simple that I can find myself..... If not Ill call the professionals and let them deal with the issue :) Robert Chase john wrote: >well, if it didn't do it before the purge, then it's >probably something simple... a disconnected bracket, >line, cable... who knows what Rube left for you to >discover on this adventure. :) > >one thing I've learned is not to panic if something >drastic changes after a car repair or service... John is 100% right..... The bulb vs dash fiber will depend on the specific car..... If its a fibre issue the fibre has just pulled away from the plastic cover and is not shining into the lucite anymore..... I just recently dealt with this when I installed my new Euro model Mercedes Benz CD player in my dash and replaced the facia wood at the same time...... Getting all the little fibres aligned in the upper dash section of a S class bodied car was a bit tricky...... I found that using some dust off inside the hole of the switch and cleaning the fibre ends a bit helped greatly with the light output of the fibres..... Dont remember if the list supports it but I am attaching the result of my 3 day adventure of complex Mercedes Benz Dashboard diving :). If you decide to "dive in" just expect the unexpected and schedule a few days to drive around with your dash "ripped open" as you will find that fixing one thing may cause another thing to go out.... I dealt with a few of those issues including fibres that slipped out and peanut bulbs in my climate control that would get wonky on me.......
