Quest-branded, "Quick Cool" as I recall. Seemed simple enough, had the correct attachment on the end of a hose, "turn engine on and A/C to max cool. connnect can. depress button on top of can until can is empty." However, nowhere, not on Quest's website, nor the R134 packaging did it mention check the pressure of the system. My question is, could I have possibly over-filled it? ramifications of such? btw, hurricane dennis came up this way so it's been cloudy 75-80 degrees since. no opportunity to check whether it improved on a truly hot day yet. thanks once again! Now if you've got a professional pump setup... well, that's a different story. In other words to really screw things up, ya gotta know what you're doing. :) FWIW, the dity kit I picked up at schucks has a gauge built into the filler. Pretty nice. Paid to have what was left of the R12 evacuated. (Don't feel too bad about paying. There was less than 3 ounces of R12 in there.) Used a 30 or 40 dollar kit from WallyWorld. I still have to convince my fan to blow faster than low, but what little it blows is finally cold again. This kit also included a gauge for the low pressure side. But once I got the first of three cans into the system, the gauge seemed to pretty much stay where it was. It was a very poor tool for determining when I had enough refrigerant in my system. A different bundle that also had a guage included a table of desired low-side pressure at various ambient temperatures, which my kit did not include, and there was a good bit of change expected when you start dealing with 90 degree ambients. I did see a professional style setup of hoses and gauges for R134a at Harbor freight. I think it was under 50 bucks. I now believe one needs to monitor the high-side pressure to get any accuracy, unless you have access to one of those pump/extractor getups that allows you to measure refrigerant by weight. I think the limiting parameter is how much high-side pressure your system can tolerate. If you get the high-side pressure to the same as it was with R12, you're gold. Be advised, however, that gas pressure varies directly with temperature, so you really should take that into account too. - Jerry Kaidor ( jerry-at-tr2.com ) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 13 Jul 2005 13:55:56 -0700 From: "xbxx" Subject: [db] Had a mishap, need some parts for OM617 (124 chassis) 300D Hello all, The ol' girlfriend rear-ended another car a couple weeks ago. The radiator core was pushed into the fan blades and nicked it. The radiator is now repaired, and I heli-arc welded the fan blade ring where it had broken, but unfortunately it didn't hold, and broke again. The bumper was also bent up pretty well, and will need to go to the body shop. Luckily, it didn't get into any body panels at all, but I will need the metal bumper part(s) to have welded on. I'm hoping someone either has same of these parts in their garage, or a used part dealer or a friend of theirs on the list will pipe up. So here is what I need: Fan Blade (not the clutch) Front Bumper (weld on assembly) Thanks, - -Wolf ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #1890 **********************************
