The bolt itself was rusty, but the remaining nut was sufficiently loose that I didn't even have to get out the WD-40, so I can see how the other one might have worked loose. I have my doubts that what was on the car was original--a lock washer would probably have been helpful, and there wasn't one. I think I'm just going to run without it until I get the new kit. Thank you all for helping me test the email system. It was a DNS issue and is now resolved. Pretty typical problem, seems to happen every time a server is moved or created. :) wagoneers.com has been off line since the end of May. Richard Sexton from mbz.org was very graciously hosting it and attempted to improve network performance by moving it to another location. Things went sideways and as far as I know he's still pretty much off line. :( I just looked at http://mbz.org ... oh man, Richard... bummer: POSTSCTIPT 4-jul-05 I got my computers back. They're broken and empty. Sigh. Richard, don't worry about restoring my data... If I'm missing anything it's just a few list digests, no biggie... ....the picture says it all, http://mbz.org/DSCF0002x.JPG that was where wagoneers.com was living... Richard Sexton thanx so very much for hosting wagoneers.com, I wish you and your 1,500 other domains a speedy and simple recovery. If there is anything sys admin related I can to do help, just drop me an email. Maybe I can help you write some scripts or test with pings or something... The new home of wagoneers.com is at the Digital Forest in South Seattle! http://digitalforest.net/ http://digitalforest.net/about/cams/ (I think I can see my system.... ;) This place is incredible. It is one of the nicest datacenters I've ever been in. What really surprised me was the number of Macs there! I almost applied for a job at this place over a year ago. They had the funniest job ad I've ever seen. "Slave labor wanted". It was great. If I can find it I may put it on my website as a "classic". Chuck G. from the diesel-benz list runs the show there. Thanx Chuck! BTW, The pictures of that 16 cylinder Cummins twin turbo Diesel generator are still in my digital camera... I "wasted" my time last night attempting to get the '92 Cherokee Sport 4.0L injectors to quit leaking fuel... I don't know why the new injector o-rings failed so soon. Luckily I had an old o-ring kit. The dealer gets 11.70 wholesale for one of these o-rings now!!! Everything still smells of gasoline in my area... I loathe gas engines... IF I can't get this XJ to run right I may be looking for an OM617 3.0L TD engine again. :) It's a nice plain, simple white Cherokee, no power, no a/c, simple... clean... solid... tempting... I'm so far behind on so many projects... spent the 4th of July weekend on an airplane or in Amsterdam setting up a Sun server. In a couple weeks I'm off to Tokyo with 2 Sun servers and a Linux server. Meanwhile I need to service my wife's WJ (wax, lube, etc.), wash my '91 300D, sell the '86 Cherokee Chief, finish fixing the '92 Cherokee Sport and selling it, and making sure I get all the parts needed so Curtis can finish Superdawg this summer! (Curtis found a 4 row radiator for chevy conversions that will bolt right in!!!) I'm hoping to retrieve the 6.2L Diesel Jimmy soon and configure a dual tank setup on it to run the Waste Veggie Oil. It'll help me work out the kinks on fuel transfer before SuperDawg is done. So far I've run 10 gallons of wvo through the '92 300D. Still averaging 30mpg per tank too! Just sent back the defective 12V fuel transfer pump to Northern Hydraulics, waiting for the replacement... gotta run, happy to be back on line... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 15 Jul 2005 13:14:56 -0500 From: acordova-at-texas.net Subject: Re: [db] wagoneers.com is working! Some 617.95 powered CD JB's mechanic in new england somewhere either owned personally or knew the owner well. I don't remember the details too well other than it qualifies for the 500k click badge, and that it ran better than most 617s out there. Any 617 that gets 28 MPG is a spectacularly running 617. JB had expressed light interest in picking it up because he missed driving his grey coupe (also powered by a 617 that got in the ballpark of 28 MPG), and because he doubted he'd have much faith in the E300D not needing repairs for a month if kept as the daily driver. If it was me, the E300 wouldn't have stayed in my stable long enough for the low coolant light to come on. 95 E300Ds are supposed to be a fantastic reliable car, and his is trying real hard to not be reliable. JB isn't as fun to mess with as John. You can send John a lead on a car that he doesn't want, and next thing you know, it's in his driveway and he's posting something about how his wife is mad that there are so many cars in the driveway again. Truth be told, I'm no better, probably worse even, since there's no wife to complain that there is no parking within a couple hundred yards of the house, so random things tend to follow me home.
