I'm a frequent "lurker" on this list but I don't post here very much. Anyway, I thought someone might be interested in these, so here goes: My girlfriend's mother has a 79 300SD for sale, in great shape mechanically and cosmetically... Paint is nice and shiny, but there's a tiny bit of rust in the lower quarter panels--barely noticeable. The AC works, windows work, sunroof is slow, locks don't work... for $2,500. Another friend has an 84 300D, also in great shape mechanically and cosmetically.... Very solid car. No rust. Nice paint. Everything works as far as I know. I helped put a fresh engine in it.... I think he's asking $5,000. Also know of another 300D that's not the best looking car, but runs great and could probably be bought on the cheap. Let me know if you want phone numbers for any of these. Well, in *my* book, olive drab turned olive gloss becomes "Pasture Green" ;) So I'd go Pasture Green or Harvest Tan. Quite frankly I don't think I've ever seen a 40's vintage CJ in any of those other colors. Of course they were all "rust brown" by the time *I* saw them! ;) Jim > y'all need to get with the program, here are the "official" > color options for a CJ-2A, notice that CJ=civilian jeep, NO olive > drab options... ;) > > http://www.thecj2apage.com/paint.html > > white would be my next option to match the WJ and the J10 which > is also getting the same color... > > jon > > > On Fri, 28 Oct 2005, Aaron Storms wrote: > > > -->I think that baby needs to come live with me so it can stay olive drab! > > -->...:) Actually, there was a beautiful white ice racer flattie with v8 at the > > -->Georgetown, CO ice races last year with tan seats and trim. If he's putting a mercedes engine in it, he should put a quintessential mercedes color on it - like that seventies avocado green, or the "I just ate indian food and threw up" burnt orange. The "honey please don't feed the baby so many canned peas" green is too similar to a shade of green AMC used in the sixites, and you wouldn't want people thinking you put a 232 in your CJ :) Or, go the route of my father's 51 CJ3 - rattle can primer. If the paint gets scratched, it's REAL easy to deal with :) K ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2009 **********************************
