Now... I have a v.noisy bearing that has gone from whining to on and off howling to growling a bit. I was going to change it on Thursday but it'll have to wait till Friday as it turns out I need to drive to Dublin (across the country) for a funeral and I'd rather not take the Beetle (heat exhangers are suching in exhaust fumes if I open the vents), nor the 2CV (laid up and for sale), nor the MX5.. (I want bring back a step ladder + some plywood). So, how long could one usually go on a noisy bearing without changing it? Would it be ok over and back (about 6 hours driving total)? Last Sat was when the noise kinda changed to the growl after driving for 5 hours.
