Paul, Bruce & Chuck... I'll be without a Diesel until my J10 is done. I've got three 55 gal plastic drums waiting to be turned into bioDiesel. I'll be giving some of that oil to Bruce for his processing. I'm going to setup a skid that I can put the barrels on and winch up into my trailer to bring over to bruce's for processing... soon as he quits goofing off and gets home. :) I suspect we'll need at least one barrel empty to put the bioDiesel into... the steel drum I got from Chuck is still empty... want to put the bioDiesel in it since it will hold my Harbor Freight $10.99 hand pump. :) The plastic barrels just don't like SAE steel threads seeing as how they're metric... and plastic... Of course no one will want to arm wrestle chuch or me after we've been processing some of this stuff... ;) I'm looking out the window at Shadowfax... beautiful car... best car I've ever owned. Problem is I guess I just don't like cars... ;) Loving this "new" WJ. I guess there is more to life than fuel economy. ;) When my J10 is back on the road I'll be back into the Diesel game. I wish I knew when that was going to happen. Wife is already talking about moving the leather seats to my WJ. I think she prefers the V8 model I just picked up to hers. She really dislikes the Mercedes. Any of them. I can't get it out of her what it is exactly. Seats maybe? Controls? She won't drive any of them. She prefers the Jeeps to Mercedes. If I do get another Mercedes because of a long distance commute like I had I'll be checking with Derick first. ;) If I couldn't locate another 124 I'd give thought to a VW TDI, or better, get a Mercedes Diesel setup and drop it into a Jeep Cherokee. If I had extra money and time right now I'd be over at Aurora Autowrecking and loading up that 3.0L... :) Hope y'all had a great Christmas. Paul, if you want to swing by I've got 5 gallons already filtered and pumped in a 5 gallon can, if your 240D won't choke on it you can just pour it on in... :) It's probably a good thing you bought that 240D when you did... had this little Willys CJ-2A shown up with it still in the drive... :) speaking of which, need to get some of these projects going... later, john On Mon, 26 Dec 2005, Paul Masterson wrote: > -->> > --> > -->> > --> If anyone in the Seattle area wants some, let me > -->> > --> know. She said clearly, "Diesel" and when she was not sure the guy had grokked it she checked again with him. "Yes yes" he says. Though in retrospect we doubt he speaks english. Next morning, Polka (the car in question) was hard to start and ran like crappo! She had driven home 20 miles on I-78 the night before, so what was up? I sniffed the tank, dude, it was premium. dude! Premium petrol, not diesel. And it stank, I guess I am just used to diesel and have a hatred of petrol in my blood now. Well, we were all livid. Hess customer service opens tomorrow.......... I syphoned 2x jerry cans full of seemingly pure premium then dumped the rest out the bottom of the tank into an oil catcher. Then I flushed the tank with a gallon of diesel into the oil catcher. Then, empty out all fuel lines I can get to. new fuel filter, filled with diesel. 4 gallons diesel in tank draw up with hand primer, do a progressive bleed. Started first time, ran sketchily for 30secs then runs fine. Load test on freeway yet to occur but meantime I am declaring success in this email. Next up, oil change plus our Xmas present to Polka: pressure wash engine bay, valve adjustment and new stainless clamps on a bunch of the fuel lines etc. What a fine car. When I purchased the car, the previous owner stated that the heads were re-done and did had the top end done. I ran the car for about 10000 miles (in about four months) then had some serious head gasket issues.... (low compression.....the car never did overheat....just sprayed oil all over the underside of the hood.) My mechanic who I do trust, says if the cylinder head was re-done, it wasn't done right.... he showed me one broken value that needs to be replaced, it broke because it was too tight. He called the previous valve-job and everything else, "a hack job". My question for everyone, should I trust the heads that are on the car? My mechanic says that they are okay and has them at the machine shop waiting to be resurfaced/rebuilt.... What are some economical choices? What would you do?
