They'll be selling all of these items I haven't had time to put up on ebay to raise money for ministry purposes. I guess I'm happy with 15 cents on the dollar as opposed to dealing with all the efforts of selling/shipping the stuff on ebay. I'll post a complete list of what is coming, but I've got three 123 tail lights, a pair of complete 123 headlights, full set of six lug SJ rims three with the original jeep hubs, a GMC 6.2L Diesel Radiator, cruise module for an SJ, ignition module for a 360, the air injection system for a 360 and so on... oh yeah, also a 123 sunroof deflector, luggage rack for a GW and a '76 Wagoneer grille... I will try to get the list up and give folks an opportunity to make an offer before they get it on ebay... good stuff... john >--> ----- Original Message ----- >--> From: john >--> To: full size jeep list ; xj-list ; diesel-benz list ; WJ-Grand-at-yahoogroups.com >--> Sent: Saturday, January 07, 2006 11:30 PM >--> Subject: [WJ-Grand] projects update >--> ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 8 Jan 2006 19:44:55 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] concept Gladiator has a DIESEL! a friend pointed out the gladiator from the LA Auto Show: http://news.com.com/2300-11389_3-6019408-11.html It looks like they're going to market it with the 6 speed manual, hopefully they'll offer it with an AT like they do with the KJ. Car feels great again. I have a Q though... when removing the spring I noticed the bottom "rung" of the spring wasn't seated into the stop channel in the wishbone and having removed the spring with the compressors on I didn't want to uncompress the spring off the car. This is partly due to not wanting to touch the compressed spring as much as possible and partly due to not trusting my compressors much (they are new but the threaded bar "bends" a little when spring is compressed..). So I put it back in the way it came out for the moment. Anyone think this could be dangerous or am I good to wait until the new compressors arrive? I am thinking about selling the car it is a station wagon. but I don't think a torn boot would be a safety issue. what do you think? Long term, if grit and dirt gets in there, you will ruin the joint. Is it still packed with grease or is it dry and gritty? Hinge torn out of frame? How rusty is that thing? This is not a usual failure. New tires - definitely, you don't want to blow out at 60 MPH. Defroster - no fan or no heat? No fan, replace or oil motor and check switch contacts and fuse for corrosion. No heat, check the control valve, probably frozen shut. How much? *(after you give a good report on the rust or lack thereof......) :-) Edward Philip Tigue wrote: >I had my MB 1980 300TD sitting idle for a long time and took it to a >garage to get it inspected. they told me because the boot on the axle >was torn the axle would have to be replaced. also the hood hinge is torn >out of the frame and that would have to be repaired to be safe. there >were several other items also like new tires were needed because they >were dry rot. and the defroster did not work. Except that this is an 80 300TD, which qualifies it for the absurd goofy dread Chrysler ACC nonsense. The system goes wonky, and when it does, usually all that works is the defrost button. Often, this will dump full heat out the vents, but I've tripped over one servo that did not offer heat. There is a fuse for the servo somewhere on the passenger side inner fender. If the fuse isn't the problem, it starts to get rather expensive. I did not use it much myself. there is not excessive rust. I think the hood got stuck and the sheet metal tore right at the place the hinge fastenes to the fender. the horns may need replacing as well as some lights. the axle is probably fine except for the boot. also it needs a new fuel sending unit and air cells. it has around 187K miles. it is still at the garage at the moment. -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Edward Pomeroy Reply-To: ejpomeroy-at-qtm.net To: Philip Tigue CC: diesel-benz-at-digest.net Subject: Re: [db] 300td inspection Date: Mon, 09 Jan 2006 18:19:57 -0500 MIME-Version: 1.0 Received: from qtm.net ([216.163.32.14]) by bay0-mc11-f3.bay0.hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC(6.0.3790.211); Mon, 9 Jan 2006 15:19:58 -0800 Received: (qmail 89789 invoked from network); 9 Jan 2006 23:18:50 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO ?127.0.0.1?)
