I don't think that will happen again, sheesh, if y'all can put up with me this posting should be pretty dang mild. ;) Anyway, yes, I've had good service from Rusty, and also good service from Randy, so I don't mind sharing the letter I received in the mail to help him out. Both of our alternate parts sources, i.e. rusty and randy, are both reliable sources of parts at a good price. Personally I'm doing my shopping at the local MB dealership, Phil Smart, they provide me excellent support in getting parts and they opened a store closer to me up here in Lynnwood. The parts manager, Nick, is a great guy. That and I buy as a business so I'm able to avoid retail prices. Otherwise, I'd be chatting with either rusty or randy. You local guys are welcome to buy parts at phil smart through my business, just pay the sales tax so the governor gets her share. details: european parts specialists, ltd. 5662 calle real #339 goleta, ca 93117 (north of Santa Barbara) 800-334-2739 / 805-683-4020 email: randy-at-esparts.com for older parts: http://www.epsparts.com his newset website: http://www.AutoPartsGuru.com if you order parts via autopartsguru he'll pay shipping for ground methods on orders over $100. 25 years of service... fwiw, nothing in this for me, this is just an fyi... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 18 Feb 2006 16:50:50 -0800 From: Greg Fiorentino Subject: Re: [db] brake booster Charles Redell wrote: Posted this before, but received no answer, so I thought I'd try one more time: Can anyone tell me how hard a job it is to replace the brake booster in an 84 300d turbo diesel please? Thanks, charlie -- Proud owner of an 84 300d turbo running B100 (if you don't know what this means, just ask!) Hi Charlie: I did this job on a '79 non-turbo TD, but I think the task is the same. The one extremely difficult part (at first) was starting the nut under the dash threaded through lots of interfering wiring and tubing. This nut tightens the stud on the booster which goes through the firewall. The solution was getting a long enough piece of rubber hose which tightly gripped the nut. reach the hose through to get the threads started and the rest is a piece of cake. BTW, failure of the booster is likely due to a torn diaphragm on the vacuum pump leaking oil into the hoses. If this is not repaired you will soon be replacing the booster yet again. Good luck! Here's an easier link to find the parts: http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmissionmarket I'm sure he'll be trickling them up a little at a time. FWIW, the shipping on the dash assembly isn't $18, it's supposed to be "calculate". :) I noticed that two of the 123 tail light assy's are up there.
