The stopping distance changes quite a bit and you will surprised how much 1 yard of top soil is pushing you when you don't need it.About 1/7 of the total trailer weight should by on the tongue of the trailer as otherwise the trailer starts to fish tail when the speed increases. Just received from my car a trailer wiring harness made DB and a special blinker relay. The wiring harness is just plugged in a both sides of the tail lights. Not sure what is correct but read before that a car with an automatic transmission is more suitable for trailer hauling than a manual one. I stuck my spare into #1. ( 5 is the hard one - it hides behind the water hose next to the oil filter ) Now the glowplug light comes on, and the car started relatively instantly. Not a real test; it was still a trace warm from running three hours previous. We'll see what it does tomorrow morning. The climate control works when you jiggle the ignition key. Actually just back it off a bit counterclockwise. With one important exception: the AC compressor doesn't come on. I think it's low on gas. I jumpered across the lower sensor on the receiver/drier and it came on. The good news is that the compressor isn't seized. So I probably just have to take it to the friendly local AC shop and get it topped up with R12. I also replaced all the fuses. When I first got the car, the tach worked - that was cool. Then it went intermittant. Then it started swinging from zero to redline, back & forth, as the engine idled. Then it died altogether :(. - Jerry Kaidor ( jerry-at-tr2.com ) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 3 Mar 2006 18:00:09 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: [db] 300SD Progress sounds like you might have a bad ground or other wiring issues... john On Fri, 3 Mar 2006, Jerry Kaidor wrote: >-->Well, not a whole lot of time to work on cars..... but I did manage to >-->install a glowplug. #1 and #5 were INOP. IIRC, this is something fixed by using something shaped like (or, if you have access to, a real one) a cigarette butt. Apparently wedging a cigarette butt causes something to make contact that was loose due to age. You'll have to search for it, can't remember what it was. The flasher relay (big red button in middle of console) on the W123 300d of SWMBO had finally given up the ghost, after a year of only working at times after being given a good whack. Given that the local MB dealer wants about 100 $ for a new one, I was wondering if it is possible to open it, and graft a common or garden blinker relay ($2 here) to the wiring inside the switch ?
