Well, finally after several months of tinkering in the garage, I have my 82 mercedes up and running. List of work done: pulled motor replaced front and rear crank seals reset oil galley plugs (weren't in far enough) repaired worn transmission cooling lines (were rubbed through) adjusted valves built new engine wiring harness replaced transmission secondary oil pump seals (filled trans with synthetic transmission fluid) replaced driveshaft intermediate support and bearing installed new rear differential (filled with synthetic gear oil) built new 1 piece stainless steel 2.5" exhaust system (no muffler either) installed new eclipse CD player and Omnifi mp-3 player installed new tie rods and adjusters installed new idler arm bushings installed new start solenoid cleaned and greased all electrical connections in the engine bay It is at the shop today getting an alignment and thursday a local mercedes genious is going to check the linkages and transmission vacuum adjustments. I think now it is mechanically ready for the harsh Canadian winters of the future. It drives like a dream and purrs down the road.
