I need to replace the wiper motor, then bleed the master cylinder to center the piston so the warning light stays off. The body is good, it runs strong but uses some oil. Oil usage is less on long trips, more if short trips. Interior door panels on rear doors very scuffed. It has served me well to pull our travel trailer these past 4 years or so. RE: converting gasoline engine From: Cycle Santa Monica ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Message: 1 Date: Mon, 24 Apr 2006 06:41:28 -0700 (PDT) From: Cycle Santa Monica Subject: RE: converting gasoline engine There is research being done to build a hybrid diesel, Compressed air engine. The engine and car are commercially available. The technique the Ph.D. is working on is to use the diesel engine as a diesel engine, and varying the valves to open and close in a different pattern during braking to reclaim air into a compressed air tank, which can be used to propel the car from stops, to bring it up to optimal speed, at which time the diesel engine valves would change back to diesel combustion pattern to keep the car at cruising speed. Also, the diesel engine can generate more compressed air while cruising. The research is being conducted at UCLA in Los Angeles, Calif. You can search the Air Powered Vehicles yahoogroup message archives for more specifics on that research and web links. That would seem to be an easier route than to try an build an engine to run on commpressed air. Wish I had time to experiment. And the money also Nicholas Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com IIRC my high school (Brooklyn Technical HS) had a Jeep engine that was modified to run on compressed air. I took a course called Power Lab. One of the projects in the course was to determine the Brake Horsepower of an engine through the use of a Prony Brake. Since it was an indoor class there was no internal combustion used. The lab was an enormous room serviced by a freight elevator large enough for a small aircraft. It was in the same wing of the building as the aeronautics shop which did contain several small planes.
