As I was parking a van was loading up across from me and the family were staring at me and talking among themselves. As I got out of the car (new '85 300SD) A man said "Beautiful car. I am mechanic (trace of Eastern European accent), I live in Germany. That is 300SD, right? We do not see this car in Germany, very rare. They last long time. You want to sell?" And I thought, right...why buy an S class car that isn't capable of respectable Autobahn speeds? IIRC they were only manufactured for export.
