Mechanic also replaced a couple of glow plugs while he was in there. No other work was done. Now at idle, the diesel clatter is pretty significant; he purged the air out of the lines and there really wasn't any to speak of. Any reason why this could have happened? What should I be looking for? I asked him about injection pump timing and he said that it should not have change with the work he did and I understand that. What am I missing? Car has 98K. Actually, it was $2000 out the door. And that was a "mask & tape" paint job. Which is already starting to peel at the edges of certain things. This was on my wife's Jaguar XJ6. Even though it's ruinously expensive to operate, getting about 12MPG on fuel that costs $5/gallon, last I looked. Plus maintenance. Plus engine fund. Let's just say I don't track those expenses too closely. I believe it's a 17mm wrench/socket... I've had better luck with a good quality open end as opposed to a flare nut wrench. be careful, these lines are under pressure, I'd wear surgical gloves during this process in case there is a leak, the rubber will prevent serious injury, or at least let you know where to have the doctor remove the diesel fuel from under your skin. :) john On Sat, 3 Jun 2006, Pedro L.
