Yup. Saw Shadowfax there today when I picked up my 300D and dropped off the Toyota. Had to teach Roy how to turn on the AC (he had it on "Econo" mode). Got my fuel leak fixed. Glad I let them do it. Apparently took them several hours (only billed for about two) what with all the injector lines and such having to be detached and reattached and all that. Fuel leak had gotten bad enough that I only got 40 miles out of the first quarter tank! (And most of that loss was from it just sitting around waiting to be fixed. Have no idea how bad it would have been if I had been driving it a lot...) - -bkc On Mon Jul 17, 2006, john wrote: > the '91 300d is at jim startup's, should be done tomorrow... but my > wife told me we're taking the '99 WJ... :) seats are way better... > guess I'll need to bring some gear lube to keep the rear axle topped off, > not going to pay $400 to have the rear pinion seal replaced... will duct tape hold? :) > > the jeepster found a new home, haul it out tomorrow... > hey, that's the 2nd jeep to go away... :) the xj is gone too, now > all that's left is the paperwork... :) > > now all I need is to get my FSJs home, the willys put together and figure > out a tank heater for the WVO for Omega... if I keep the GW and the J10 > and the cj-2a, I'll probably have to get rid of the benz... with the WVO > option it'll be ok to part with a 30mpg sedan... :) especially since it's > got uncomfortable seats. :) > > john ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Jul 2006 00:21:22 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: [db] popcorn update... The repair wasn't hard, I did it myself without pulling all the lines in about 2 hrs... oh well... he's fair about stuff like that. john On Tue, 18 Jul 2006, Bruce Caruthers wrote: >-->Yup. I can still work on my cars, just gotta fly to them first. Why, I can remove the rear seats on the airplane and carry 300 pounds of tools and supplies. It could be a new business: "Jerry's Car Repaire by Aire". I would charge $300 for a trouble call, plus $50/hour of actual work :). Unless of course, the work was in the Bay Area, in which case I would charge $100/hour of actual work :). I need to fly to Fresno and work on the 300D. The A/C needs to be recharged, and the compressor belt tightened. All the stuff to do that is in a paper bag in the airplane. - Jerry > > you want Mercedes, Jeep, garden, yard or computer project? :) > > anything to help a friend.. ;) > > john > > ---- > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** > Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold > ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2199 **********************************
