Finally home and unpacked by 7pm. 3,649 miles. 5 crispy creme donuts, gallons of coffee... Last tank was 19.47mpg, overall average appears to be around 17.7, almost 18mpg. Had two tanks mid 19's. The '99 WJ with a 4.7L V8 did quite well. Cruise locked in at 75mph plus a few and held rock steady. The 45RFE trans did a superb job of holding the speed down mountain passes. I never had to use the brakes! Very happy with the way the WJ performed and handled. The a/c could have been a few degrees colder in town when it was 115 outside, but hey, even my mother-in-law's a/c couldn't keep it cool inside the house! The tires were superb, have the Bridgestone Revo A/Ts. also happy with my new Lumix / Panasonic DMC-FZ7 digital camera... turns on quickly and takes pictures quickly... The mileage wasn't too bad considering we crossed the continental divide over 7 times wandering through Montana and Wyoming... Glacier and Yellowstone. Temps were horrific... We left Seattle with mid-90 degree temps. Once over into Montana well over 100. Even in Yellowstone we had high 90's. South Dakota saw temps over 100 from Wed through Monday. One day saw 115 degrees. Heavy storm came in and temps dropped to the 80's. Had the rear pinion seal replaced in Mitchell, SD for $59! A well known shop and rear end parts house here in Everett quoted me $390. It think it was a mistake. My Interstate battery did not like the 115 degrees and the other 100+ temps for the week and a half and gave up the ghost. Free warranty replacement. Then in Spokane I noticed a leak in my PS unit, haven't crawled underneath yet, nothing serious, just slightly messy. Saturday is hereby declared CJ saturday! A friend is coming over to help swap the T-90 and install the top. Will get it all put together with Amsoil throughout and new rubber parts. Hope to have it all together and driveable this weekend!!! :) Does anyone know if the Weber carb that was used on a 4.2L I-6 will work on a Ford 2.0L? I don't know the number off hand, but am thinking of using it on my Cj-2A. I'll have to check the power steering lines tomorrow on the WJ and do a once over on my 124 since it's been sitting for 2 weeks. It's going to be strange driving something that close to the ground... the other aspect is the fact I've been driving a V8 for two weeks, not sure what a 2.5L Diesel will feel like... expecting a shock to my system. :) I will be dragging home 2 4.0L's on Sunday, my '92 and '96, will rebuild the '96 for use in SuperDawg... that leaves the '92 with a bad #6 for sale. JEEP parts for sale: - '91 360 V8, runs great 130k - '91 TF727 - needs to be rebuilt - '91 NP229 - good condition - '83 4.2L - bad #2 rings - 130k - '83 T-5 - rebuilt with world class parts (mated to the 4.2L) - 2 TH400s with universal cases (have the Buick adapter ring for one) - Dana 20 xfr case (currently attached to a TH400) - T-90 from CJ-2A - has issues with 2nd gear - '92 4.0L engine with bad #6 cylinder - '89 AW4 - '89 NP231 for sale this Fall after Omega is done: '91 300D 2.5L TD when superdawg is done: '75 J10 hydraulic dump trailer Will consider trades for having the '96 4.0L rebuilt or a car trailer. john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Aug 2006 21:45:40 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: RE: [db] TaTa all On Thu, 3 Aug 2006, FreddyP wrote: >-->Keep it, it's a good car. This is all a whole new experience for me. Changed the oil and filter about a month ago, changed the fuel filters a few weeks ago, and now I learned about cleaning an oil-bath, metal-mesh air filter. All of the above for the first time (for me, not for the car!). Roy and Jim guided me through it, loaning me Roy's tools, along with some spare coveralls in the shop. Got to play with a solvent basin, and disassembling another part of my car. Slowly learning this stuff! Now if I can just track down a copy of a Bentley Publishers manual for my w115... I may eventually have to fork over the money for an actual Mercedes shop manual.
