The manual gets noticeably better mileage than the slushbox. Numbers can be made to prove anything you want. Provided it's old enough that it doesn't have the variable pitch turbo, it's pretty easy - van injectors, slight wastegate adjustment. The variable pitch turbo, being computer controlled, needs some serious fiddling to prevent it from going way overboost if you fiddle with it. (and power shouldn't fall flat off like that.) Agreed. I've NEVER seen less than 45 MPG from my Jetta, and my average in a mix of city/hwy driving is likely 49 or 50. I once squeezed just under 59 MPG out of one tank by just not allowing my right foot to push as hard as my default. ;) My only beef with Prius owners is their tendency to camp out in the left lane of I-5 going 2 MPH under the speed limit. =\ - -- - --chuck goolsbee 02 Jetta TDi & 06 Liberty CRD arlington, wa, usa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 14 Aug 2006 07:06:55 -0400 From: "Renaud (Ron) Olgiati" Subject: [db] starting problem when hot At times, when the engine is hot, I turn the key and nothing happens.
