I've seen the bottom vent pod near the "gas" pedal. I'll look for the other. When I first bought this car, the "mechanic" had rigged the vacuum lines at the vacuum switches so that the recirculation flap was always closed, recirculating, to probably enhance the A/C. It is now all back to original. Now, I need to fix the real issues. Gotta find my vacuum tester.... How easy is the console to remove? Or, is that not necessary? Marc Z. The 6 cylinder OM603 engine family first appeared in the US in the big-body 1986 W126 300SD, then in the W124 300D of 1987. Things get a little mixed after that, as they put the 2.5 liter 5 cylinder diesel in there some years. The body style you mention was never offered with a 6 cylinder diesel. $3500 suggests the car is in pretty good shape. It'd be worth the hundred bucks or so to have a good indie MB mechanic do a prepurchase inspection though, to really tell you if it's worth $3500 or $1500. I think $4500 is about top dollar, and that should include fully functional air conditioning and replaced suspension rubber all around. DO NOT WASTE A PENNY ON A CARFAX... they are useless.. it's better to take the VIN to a dealer and ask about it's service and recall history. I have rebuilt several cars, total losses, retitled, insurance auctions, etc. I've checked those VINs, one vehicle with TWO VINs (theft recovery out of canada) and all of the rebuilt, totalled and retitled vehicles came up clean in CARFAX. Corey, You can be sure that summary results of easy to access, on-line records, that probably include whether it had been reported stolen in the US, are included. If it went swimming in New Orleans last year and the title was cleaned by a talented but unscrupulous person, probably more thoroughly than the car itself, carfax might not notice. A car's service records and a pre-purchase inspection provide more and better information. Sam corey church wrote: > What do you guys think about the carfax service? is it worth it?
