Susan, You need to replace the whole light assembly, if you try to re-glue the broken one, it will just leak. The good news is they are relatively cheap. Try searching for "tail light" like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MERCEDES-300D-TAIL-LIGHT-LEFT-SIDE-DRIVERS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33716QQihZ006QQitemZ160038738603QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW or http://tinyurl.com/joelh Paul ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 11 Oct 2006 12:32:19 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: [db] ooops! *crunch* it's all one piece... might help: http://www.performanceproducts4benz.com/Drawings.aspx?bmid=146 john On Wed, 11 Oct 2006, Susan Bernick wrote: > -->> ebay? > --> > -->anybody know what that part's name is "officially"? I'm actually entertaining ideas of vehicle sales and purchases... put primer on the '47 cj-2a after dinner... ordered parts to finish the '48 cj-2a and may very well sell the '91 300d before the '91 grand wagoneer gets completed with the 6.2L WVO burning Diesel. :) If the benz does find a new home I've already located two 2000 Jeeps! one xj and one wj... not crazy about the colors of either, but they're jeeps... :) ah yes, a nice little break from reality... jeep dreaming at lunch time... :) giving up 26 to 30mpg on Diesel for 16 to 17 mpg on Gas isn't as painful as it used to be... 10 mile commute, works out to somewhere between $4 and $10 per week... depending on the price spread of the fuels... my '87 xj got 17mpg in town with 31's... I kind of regret selling it to my son who had way too much fun in arizona with it... oh well... he did bring home the '48 cj-2a with it... :) the pinto engine is out of the '48 cj-2a and the engine compartment is prepped for cleanup and paint... going to look great... the flathead will go in next week along with a new clutch, rebuilt t-90 and a spicer 18 with a PTO setup.. :) gonna love hearing that 6.48:1 compression ratio engine come to life... something wonderful about driving that little rig... wife even fell in love with it with just one quick drive around the yard/driveway... On the other hand, shadowfax has been the best car I've ever owned... hard to part with something that just works... nice looking, reliable, economical, if only they'd kept Rube Goldberg out of the climate control system and had considered actually making comfortable seats... :) but the thought of driving a late model xj or wj daily is way more appealing to me... :) I'll actually be able to see the mountains on one stretch of road... drive it every day with the Benz, didn't notice the view until I drove the wife's WJ the other night... not to mention being able to see over traffic, way safer around here... things happen, and often... visibility is critical with all the traffic we have. And of course there is that bumper sticker I saw once on a suburban: there is more to life than gas mileage... the only thing that could be better is if the '91 Grand Wagoneer were ready before the 300D went away... but considering the technical issues involved, I'm not counting on it... there is the transfer case issue, then the clearance on the heater box... installation of the 3" body lift... then there is the fuel setup for the aux tank, need to get a heater setup for it... and of course there is that issue of having to wait about two months for the state police inspection to retitle it... it was considered a totalled vehicle... :( so an interim XJ sounds like just the solution... :) this will be number #12 XJ, or #4 WJ, if anyone is keeping score. ;) john ---- http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L V8/45RFE/NV 247 (Quadradrive) 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer was 5.9/727/np229 --> 6.2L/700R4/NP 219 or NP 208... driveline in work... 1948 Willys CJ-2A 2.0L/T90/Spicer 18 1975 Jeep J10 Bed/trailer hydraulic dump 1983 Jeep J10 Stepside was 4.2L I-6/T-5/NP208 --> 4.0 or repl 4.2, or ??? 1991 Mercedes 300D 2.5L Turbo Diesel/AT (for sale after GW complete) 1947 Willys CJ-2A 2.0L/T90/Spicer 18 (for sale) http://wagoneers.com/JEEPS/47-CJ-2A - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2264 **********************************
