Just as a comparison, don't forget that places like California (SF Bay area) and New York (Long Island) have a similar sales tax of around 8-9% PLUS a high income tax rate. :) (As someone who has lived and paid taxes in both places, I actually feel blessed, tax-wise, here...) - -bkc Lynnwood, WA '76 MB 240D [W115.117/616.916] '93 MB 300D 2.5 Turbo [W124.128/602.962] (replaces ML) '92 Toyota Celica GT (wife's old car) '00 MB ML320 [W163.154/M112.942] (to be sold, hopefully) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 20 Oct 2006 16:22:34 -0700 From: Kevin Subject: Re: [db] brake query On Fri, Oct 20, 2006 at 04:19:01PM -0700, Bruce Caruthers wrote: > On Fri Oct 20, 2006, Susan Bernick wrote: > > > > We don't have an income tax in Washington, we have a usurious, > > regressive, obnoxiously high sales tax, instead. I think Tennessee is one of the highest for sales taxes, with some categories in some counties hitting 10%. When I was in Washington last, I don't recall the sales tax being obnoxious, so it's probably in line with or below the bay area.
