I went with the DuraLast yesterday. Vast improvement in startup this morning. The old battery (a "MegaTron"?) took a good bit of convincing to get it to part ways with the cables and tray, so I do believe it had been there long enough. Darned thing was dying right before our eyes while the AutoZone guy was trying to test it. Glad I didn't wait any longer. Didn't go the Optima route mostly because this car is a daily driver with a 25-30 mile commute each way. If it were one that did mostly short trips or if it sat around for weeks or months or even if it were subjected to particularly bumpy use I probably would have sprung for the Optima. With the life this car lives, it didn't look like those benefits were needed, especially for the price difference. In fact, my driving habits would probably make almost any battery do pretty well (other than the central Texas heat), but y'all's input makes me much more comfortable with my choice. Thanks again.
