The back seat is a bit of a squeeze. The trunk is HUGE for such a small car. It drives quite well. I average 50 MPG pretty much all the time, and can get insane (60s) milage if I drive it in full blown "thrifty mode". It has been quite reliable. Been back to the dealer ONCE since new, for a recall issue having to do with window motors and heated seats. The radio has twice now, for about month-long periods, stopped working for FM frequencies. I just listen to my iPod via a cassette adapter - and then as mysteriously as it stopped, it starts working again... go figure. I do have a leaking #1 injector, but plan on fixing that myself as soon as my back-ordered parts arrive. Do all my own maintenance. Has (as of right now) 99,959 miles on it. It isn't a good looking car, but as a daily driver it is awesome - -- - --chuck goolsbee 02 Jetta TDi & 06 Liberty CRD arlington, wa, usa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 9 Nov 2006 22:55:20 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: Re: [db] Value of cars what kind of mileage would the Jetta get doing a 10 mile commute? my 124 was giving me 30-31 mpg commuting down to Seattle in stop and go traffic... but the way the lights are set, and the weight of my right foot... I guess I should consider one of those greasel type setups for my 124 and start looking for a local veggie source... something along 128th/132nd would be ideal... don't need much... I still have 165 gallons sitting over at Bruce's... waiting for him to finish his chemistry set to convert it to BioDiesel. :) How's that going Bruce? I've never had this problem, and have a possible solution, but thought I'd throw it out to see if anyone else has been in the same situation. The night before last, while driving home from work around 3 AM, I was stopped by one of Mansfield's (Texas) finest. Before showing him my license and such, I asked him what the problem was. He told me that the bulb above my license plate was out. After running my license he told me to fix it and let me go my merry way. When I got home, I checked the lighting on the car and saw that both bulbs above the license plate were working, but the illumination was dim. The lenses on either side appear a bit cloudy with some debris on the inside. I am planning on removing the lenses this weekend and cleaning them up with the buffing wheel attached to my Dremel tool. Does that sound like it will work? Should I apply wax, or whatever, to the inner surface? Actually, since it's obvious that the lights are working, I think the officer was bored and called in my plates incorrectly and was trying to cover up for his mistake. That's happened to me before and I actually got an apology from the officer that did it. This time I didn't, but don't want to tempt the fates.... What say y'all?
