This is an '82 300TD wagon. I've tried jiggling the key and I've tried my wife's key. Nothing will make it turn. The passenger door is still fine with both keys. While the road he was going to use may be on the map, it's not a main road... he should have cut over to the coast furhter north. The only other "main" route to the coast is south of Grants Pass, 199. http://my.netscape.com/corewidgets/news/story.psp?cat=51280&id=2006120509160001330957 john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 6 Dec 2006 14:29:39 -0800 (PST) From: john Subject: [db] CNET editor... body found :( This is very sad... They commented that they found him face down... http://www.ktvu.com/news/10436601/detail.html MERLIN, Ore. -- A San Francisco father who got stranded in the snowy wilderness with his family nearly two weeks ago was found dead Wednesday in the mountains, authorities said. James Kim's body was found in the Big Windy Creek drainage near the Rogue River, where ground crews and helicopters had been searching for days since his wife and two daughters were rescued from their car on a remote road. http://www.ktvu.com/news/10436601/detail.html http://www.foxnews.com/printer_friendly_story/0,3566,234880,00.html http://news.com.com/James+Kim+found+deceased/2100-1028_3-6141498.html?tag=cnetfd.mt http://www.komotv.com/news/4843691.html my wife was commenting about all the stuff I have in the back of our Jeep... one can never be too prepared when living in the Pacific Northwest... bridges wash out, snow storms happen, earthquakes and volcanoes, land slides... of course this guy should never have gone on this road... he should have taken the main road (42) to the coast from Roseburg or dropped down to Grants Pass and taken 199. The road he chose would have been a challenge in summer... We've spent entire days on some of these back roads in Southern Oregon and never saw another person... We got stuck up on top of Pelican Butte in the middle of winter for a short time... managed to get the truck unstuck... but we didn't see anyone else, and it was a long, long way back to civilization... love it up here, but one has to go prepared... john ---- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ** http://JohnMeister.com **** http://wagoneers.com ** Snohomish, Washington USA - where Jeeps don't rust, they mold ** http://freegift.net *** http://greatcom.org/laws/languages.html ** - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2317 **********************************
