I was the one that had arranged with Erik to tow/transport/buy the wagon. I did that without having tried to arrange the tow and transport to Canada before. As I attempted to do that this morning, I quickly realized that what was originally a great deal was going to get very expensive. I just got off the phone with Erik letting him know that I no longer can take the vehicle. I apologized to him and I apologize to those of you that were disappointed. But, you now have hope again!! His big concern is getting it out of the garage so if you have somewhere you can get it to in Denver, he will be very appreciative. I'm sure whoever can do it in the next day or two is going to wind up with a great car at a great price. Again, Erik, I'm sorry for not being more informed before agreeing to take it. Happy New Year to all of you. ...... Oh, the wife. Her nick names for my 2 '83s are 'Car from Hell 1' and 'Car from Hell 2'. :-) Back in '91 when I had the algae issue, she wasn't fond of us rolling to a stop on the side of the interstate highway with the engine gasping for fuel. I doubt that I would get far with a 'Car from Hell 3'. By the way, my German Shepard bit off the rubber bumper piece on the right rear of my wagon last night. Needless to say, I wasn't too happy. I have not yet checked to see if I can reattach it. She is now, and will always be, out of reach. Marc john wrote: > my wife wouldn't mind going to South Dakota... her mother > is sick... Hello again Benzers, First of all, I'm sorry to have stirred up such a hornet's nest around here by trying to dispose of my Dad's old car. When Bob Hamilton called today to inform me he would not be able to collect the car after all, I was already on my way to the location where it's being stored, so I asked him if he would be willing to post a correction to the list on my behalf letting the rest of you who were interested know that the car was available again. To my very great surprise, the handyman I hired to make some minor repairs for my new tenants saw the car today and said, "Oh, those diesel Mercedes are great cars; I used to have one." Needless to say, I quickly asked "Want another one?" and we soon worked out a trade. He's local and was already at the site with his tools, so he's pulling the battery as we speak, and should have the car removed tonight or tomorrow (no small feat at the moment: we got his Chevy 4x4 pickup stuck in the alley and spent at least half an hour digging it out with a couple of garden shovels!). So, the on-again, off-again saga of the cream-puff TD wagon for the fire sale price is OFF again ... for good this time (I sincerely hope!). Apologies to anyone whose hopes I've dashed (repeatedly) in the last few days. I've just this moment gotten home (blizzard dregs + first day back to work = rush hour from hell), but I wanted to post this immediately before john's palms start sweating again ... ;) Thanks again to everyone who tried to help. We now return to our regularly scheduled tech discussion. Cheers, - -- Erik ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Jan 2007 20:41:37 -0500 From: Edward Pomeroy Subject: Re: [db] CLOSED AGAIN!: Help! 82 300TD wagon in Denver needs a new home ASAP!
