The OM617 only lived through 1985. Well, we all know they live a lot longer than that, but that's the last year they were included in new models. The OM602 in a W126 S Class would probably fall somewhere between an early 80's OM617 300SD and an 86-87 OM603 300SD in power, so it would live a hard life. And the driveshaft on an XJ is pretty freakin short to begin with. I'd probably adapt the AW4 to the 617 rather than trying to use a divorced setup, unless the G-wagen's divorced setup ends up being very compact. I think JB did some research on this. K ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 22 Feb 2007 12:35:01 -0500 From: Michael Frank Subject: [db] Radiator source The radiator in my 190DT has had a small leak every since I got the car (about 4 years). It hasn't been much trouble, I just had to top it off once a month. Then, last week, I did something silly...I poured a bottle of stop leak into it. Stopped the leak. In fact, it plugged the radiator so solidly that it didn't pass water. Couldn't clean it or flush it, either. So I set out to find a new radiator. I didn't even bother with MB, the list price is over $700. After pricing it with Performance Products ($561.60) and Adsit ($445), I stumbled on http://www.carpartswholesale.com/ . They had the correct radiator for $200.95, plus $4 for shipping. I was wondering what I would get for that money, but I couldn't resist the bargain. So I called them and asked a bunch of questions. I was reassured that they offered four different 190 radiators, and each had a different part number. They guaranteed the fit. So I ordered it. It arrived yesterday, and it turned out to be a Behr radiator, identical to the original in every respect. It works great. I don't know how they can sell them (and ship them) so cheaply, but I'm a happy camper...
