If you're frustrated with the prices of the stuff, remember that I converted my car with stuff from the junkyard, home depot, and the mcparts store (plus a Racor) for around 200 bucks. Oh yeah, and one of those electrical solenoid valves from greasel.com. I sent a diagram of the heater configuration I made for ten bucks; did you lose it? It was detailed with instructions....... Jason - -- john wrote: ok, so I'm busy with homework... but I haven't forgotten about what's out there in the driveway... here's a brief update: '91 GW - starter won't start, suspect the alarm system is "immobilizing starter"... have started to sort out the rats nest associated with the wiring. Noticed a few unnerving things... like a 10GA wire running back to the dash with no fuse in line... Have to look at the wiring, it may be protected by a fusible link, which would be a royal pain to replace. ;) but if it's there at least I'm not looking at a roadside BBQ. - in other news, have an offer, but it's so pathetically low that the few people I mentioned it to thought the folks were trying to steal it. ;) I'll park it in the yard until I can finish fixing all the issues on it. :) This thing has NO RUST. It'll be a good ebay item... just going to spend a bit more on it, finish working the bugs out... in the meantime I'll just keep it on craigslist. '91 300d - started looking at the heated tank setups for the wvo, it may be a while before superdawg is ready... prices are not friendly, $550 through $1600! and that's not installed. Thinking that there has to be a better way of doing this. 160 degrees isn't that hard to come by... not really keen on the idea of running coolant lines from the front to the back under the car, or through the car. Nor am I excited about spending a grand. I have a 10 mile commute... let's say I can drive 8 miles of that on veggie oil. So in a week I'd 16 x 5 = 80 miles divided by 30mpg, is 2.6 gallons per week... at $3/gallon I'm saving $8/wk, or roughly $415/yr... that means it'll take 4 years to recover my investment if I get the really good one... ok, so maybe I'll get more use of the WVO... will have to do more math on that one. '83 J10 Stepside - coming up on the 6th anniversary of dismemberment. no word on progress of reassembly, paint or the 6.2L Diesel install. can only hope to see the Dawg on the road again... haven't decided what the best adjective might be to describe my emotional state on this one... '01 XJ Cherokee limited - body damage... smoker owned... lived in salt country... but my offer, which was ridiculously low, has been considered, just need to get together, the seller is about 3 or 4 hours away... pictures aren't real good... but I'm looking forward to fixing it and having another xj... The crazy thought of putting my 2.5L TD into it has passed between my ears... ok, so I don't have time and would essentially devalue and destroy two nice vehicles... dumb idea... but hey, I only have a few minutes a day for such lunacy, let me enjoy my delusions, ok? '48 cj-2a - hoses arrived, but aren't correct, my hired wrench has had pneumonia for about a month, came over today, very close... I just don't have time to do anything other than take a glance at it every now and then. :( I'm sure it'll be operational long before SuperDawg, and with my limited time right now, might be rolling before Omega. :) I'm doing a research project on Alternate Fuel Legislation for my "Federal Regulations, Ethics and the Legal System" class. Will focus on Federal and Washington state laws and may dig into the tax revenue issues... like why are they so eager to give up tax revenue for us to use alternate fuels??? Ok, it seems obvious that it's a good thing to do environmentally, and economically, reduces dependence on foreign oil and all that... but come on, these are politicians and bureaucrats, where do they come off doing something that makes sense and really provides a benefit??? Or am I just getting too jaded. :) Hope y'all had a nice weekend. john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 6 Mar 2007 13:40:55 GMT From: "jasonbassett-at-juno.com" Subject: [db] A great deal? ebay id 150098147146 Looks like a great replacement motor for my slapping sailor.... A buddy of mine fueled up his Mercedes Sprinter Van (Dodge) this morning and realized after pumping 16 gallons the he was pumping gas and not diesel. It had about 5 gallons in the 26 gallon tank when he started. I drove up there and we siphoned out 15 gallons into gas cans and then topped it off with diesel. The good news is nothing was damaged and he was on his way in about an hour. Here is the question: What do we do with the 15 gallons of mix? I say put 3 or 4 gallons of it in every fill up until it's gone. What do you think? I'd probably dilute it and use it in a lawnmower, but that's a LOT of gas to get rid of. I'd be wary of putting that in any diesel as modern as a sprinter, and would probably end up going the other way with it - dilute it way more, and find some gasser that isn't fussy on fuel and will burn lots of it. Depending on where you are, some older diesel tractors aren't very fussy on fuel if you did dilute the snot out of the mix with diesel. Or if it's incredibly cold where you live. Yup, and I know why. Diesel fuel has a higher fuel value than gasoline, and if you mix a little of it with a bunch of gas, you can actually create a mixture that will burn more powerfully than straight gas. Come to think of it, that might be a good way to overcome the silly "reformulated" gasoline bad fuel economy.......never thought about it that way.....but it does make things more like they used to be.....
