Is it "just" because this is the last year and will completely devalue the beast? :) Or is it because you all perceive that this will be a hack job replete with duct tape, silicon and plywood? :) I've seen a couple of these done, if done properly this could be pretty cool. Of course it might be better to do this to something other than a LAST year model... but this is the cleanest most rust free FSJ I've ever owned... I'd drop a Diesel into this thing, WJ seats... fix that bed up to haul veggie oil... might be pretty cool. I like my J10, but it has limits... the Wagoneer just looks massive with that back end... this could be a pretty cool setup... :) After I fix the neutral safety switch (suspect that's the problem with starting and not the alarm system after all.) I may take it over to maaco with this picture and see first off, how hard they'll laugh at me, and two, how much it'd cost. I would set it up so I could open the back and use the back seat for cargo... :) Maybe removeable panels like my old GMC Jimmy... hmmmm.... someone buy this thing before I do something radical... it's not a good idea to leave me unsupervised or to leave vehicles in my driveway for any time at all... :) john > -->----- Original Message ----- From: "john" > -->To: "full size jeep list" > -->Cc: "diesel-benz list" ; "xj-list" > -->Sent: Monday, March 12, 2007 1:31 PM > -->Subject: fsj: just wondering... > --> > --> > -->> what do you think it would cost to have something > -->> like this done professionally? > -->> > -->> http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/gw-shortbox.jpg > -->> :) > -->> > -->> john > -->> > -->> ----- > -->> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > -->> Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold > -->> http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** > -->> ---------------------------------------------------------------------- > -->> > --> > --> ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 12 Mar 2007 18:18:13 -0500 From: Edward Pomeroy Subject: Re: [db] Mechanic in Fairfax, VA? Bathed in Shiny oil? Dude, you have a leak on the high pressure side of the diesel injection lines or a leaking fuel return line, ANY leak from the head gasket or the pan gasket will be covering your car/floor/engine comparment with black oil that is almost as good at staining skin as india ink!!!!! Before you spend a lot of money, clean off the top of the engine with simple green or some mild degreaser and hose it off, dry it with an old towel or paper towels, then run the engine at idle and get a good powerfull light to look at things with. I'll bet you find a leaking fitting or hose. If the car runs smooth at idle, it is most likely the return lines, not the high pressure side. My opinion, for what it is worth based on my own experience (have to replace the seals on the injection pump out lines this month to stop the diesel from dripping down the left side of the engine.). Except that this particular Marquis lived in Michigan for 13 years and the frame and front end are starting to rust apart. Not good....an Arizona 300SD oughta be less rusty than that! Anyway, my wife's not a power freak, so it should be OK, especially since the man who owns it now says it's spunky. As for the heat, don't I remember someone saying that the controls for the 126's are about double what you're afraid of? At the right price for the car, it could still be doable. Besides, aren't those heater mechanisms dependent on vacuum? Remember, it doesn't shut off with the key, so there's vacuum issues...... Jason - -- Kevin wrote: Heh. For what it's worth, that 92 grand marquis is one of the easier vehicles to keep on the road and happy, provided you keep the coolant serviced and it hasn't started to burn enough oil that it clogs the EGR passages. 116 will have a turbo. The marquis should roast it from a stoplight, and have enough time to come back, eat it for lunch, then come back again for seconds before the race is over. If power matters to your wife, stop now. The 116 will also not have a floaty feel to it, they're actually surprisingly solid. Watch for rust, they rust out BAD. You mention vacuum as a problem, if the climate control doesn't work (and nothing happening except hot air coming out the defrost vents when you hit defrost is still broken), move your wallet to your front pocket and run. REBUILT the servos cost roughly $600 or so. And you're not finding one in a junkyard that is worth messing with. I was happy to find one that still had the failure mode of hot defrost intact :-/ K On Mon, Mar 12, 2007 at 08:42:41PM +0000, jasonbassett-at-juno.com wrote: > ebay id 110102154064 > > A 116 body 300D.....and in nice shape, needing (apparently) only > vacuum work and a windshield.
