I bypassed it because I noticed I was attempting to wash my windshield with antifreeze... in case you've never tried that... don't. It doesn't work very well. :) Anyway, the coil is out right now and was thinking that If I put that coil into a container of veggie oil that I could probably heat it up, maybe even to the 160 degrees needed. The trunk of the 124 would hold another fuel tank quite easily... but with the economy that we see I doubt I would need to heat a full 15 to 20 gallons of fuel at once... If I had a container under the hood that held even a gallon of fuel as a reservoir before hitting the pump I could heat it... or maybe I'd need a bit more... thoughts? Need to figure out how to automatically switch the fuel from Diesel to veggie oil when the veggie hits 160 degrees, and then have a way of switching back before shutting down... otherwise it might lead to hardening of the arteries and very hard starting. :) I could figure out a way of circulating the fuel from there to the aux tank in the rear and heat it up for longer trips... I could use a block heater of some kind to plug the car in and preheat both tanks and the engine... I wonder if I'd be able to find veggie oil out there on a trip... need to figure out an easy way of filtering it as I put it in the vehicle too. it could be real messy... I've got to write a paper on the legal aspects of Alternate Fuels for this law class, finish my Masters Capstone Project on the difference in power consumption between Windows and Linux and then I'll have some time to fix my vehicles and start working on the Veggie setup... Giving some thought to going with a Diesel in my GW. Will let my procrastinating buddy in centralia finish the J10 with the 6.2 that's down there. I found a 6.5 up here with trans/xfr case out of a '94... bad head gasket... 220k on it... not sure what it'll take to fix or if I'll go for it, need to talk to some other mechanics to find out why a 6.5 would need a head gasket... but the trans and xfr case would work with another 6.2 and I believe a '94 would have the correct drop for my axle. Also thinking that the rear doors on my '67 J100 might be made to fit on my '91 Grand Wagoneer... need to talk to a body shop... suspect it'll be outrageously expense to make it work though... I think the bodies are slightly different, and the doors are really rough on the '67. :( I did talk to a fiberglass fabricator years ago about building a hatchback for the GW... in other words, there is some hope of getting over my dislike for the GW tailgate and building up a running gear that will use veggie oil. I could see keeping both the J10 and the GW if they're both Diesels. Who knows, maybe if I do a good enough job on the GW my wife will drive it. :) Anyway, back to the paper on alternate fuels... will post it on my server when I'm done. It's the last bit of work for TMGT 621, (Federal Regulations, Ethics and the Legal System). My prof is interested in this topic and suggested this research topic... going to identify setting up a vehicle for ethanol as well as biodiesel in the intro... figure it might be helpful. Got links? Should have it done this weekend. already have all the legislation pulled down... john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 18:30:31 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] all vehicles functional... got omega running... neutral safety switch connector, popped it off and back on... putting the wiring back under the dash and looking up the one loose connector, thinking that's the one for the cruise control. :) got my son's '90 xj running and moved out of the upper garden... was going to put the hood on alpha, couldn't find the bolts... car 54 where are you? :) allergies kicking in full blast... all I feel like doing is sleeping... which is better than sneezing myself into delirium. :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 22:06:12 -0600 From: Jon Filina Subject: Re: [db] all vehicles functional... Wait a minute, alpha appears to be doing just that! >allergies kicking in full blast... all I feel like doing >is sleeping... which is better than sneezing myself into >delirium. :) > > Don't move to north central Texas! When I lived in Cleveland, I had allergy problems a couple times a year. Here in the D/FW area I have them almost year round! In one of my past "lifes", I used to travel quite a bit. Once out of the area, the allergy problems went away. When I got back, it would take less than an hour for the sneezing and wheezing to commence.... Hang in there. Once all the spring blooming is over, you should be back to normal. Seriously, on-demand is the way to do it. You're not going to get 160 degrees or anything close out of a piddly little coil in a tank. Just clogged arteries..... It's not hard to make....took me about 2 hours, I think..... Jason - -- john wrote: my '91 300d has the heated windshield washer setup... a set of coils dipped into the tank...
