I had started to build an Appleseed processor (even went to Girl-Mark's class and such) but managed to break the water heater I was converting, plus needed to run some new power lines to where I wanted to put it, and got distracted by the time I had tracked down another one. I've been meaning to get back to it... Would love to come up and take a look at your setup, especially the wash tank, since my wife and I were still a bit unclear on how to make a reliable one. And I still have 150 gallons of John's WVO out back, once I do get mine up and running (hopefully). - -bkc Lynnwood, WA '76 MB 240D [W115.117/616.916] '93 MB 300D 2.5 Turbo [W124.128/602.962] '92 Toyota Celica GT (wife's old car [currently in ICU after running the oil, coolant, and tranny dry, plus an encounter with a tree and large, sharp rock at the bottom of our driveway when her mother visited and borrowed it...]) On Sat Jul 07, 2007, chuck goolsbee wrote: > > So John... still have all that WVO laying around? > > I've been collecting parts and slowly building an appleseed processor > out in my barn: > I just finished my wash tank and it is sitting outside filled with > water doing an overnight leak test. Hehe...... So I take the transmission out of my 1984 300D (own it now) and put it in the 1984 300SD (which I will likely purchase) and it is then a completely happy car. I then take the entire drivetrain out of the 1977 300D (may purchase) and put it in my 1984 300D. Then I take the turbo manifolds, IP, and exhaust off my 1984 300D's former motor and put them on the 1977 drivetrain. Then I have two perfectly happy cars! ........Right? 1. Will the transmission from my 300D mate to the 300SD of the same year? (I suspect so.) 2. Would the 1977 motor survive with a turbo? I think it was basically the same motor that they turbo-ed and stuck in the 116 chassis to make the original 300SD. But someone near and dear to the list thinks the bottom end is completely different and would eventually disintegrate from the extra bang. 3. Also, for the short term, could I just stick the transmission from my 1981 240D in my 1984 300D until I got around to bigger and better things? That way the mismatched transmission would be in my car, and SWMBO wouldn't have a "fiddled with" car. Wisdom, anybody? The big parts (pump, plumbing, etc) probably cost me about $250. The little parts... who knows. Maybe more? Lots of trips to the hardware store over the past couple of months. A lot of it I had lying around out in the barn... tubing, wood, PVC, etc. If I were to guess off the top of my head I bet I've spent between $500 & $600 so far. It should pay itself off in under a year though. >and they speak spanish... and I don't. :) My son speaks Spanish quite well. He just returned from Chile. For the wash tank I bought a kit from B100 Supply. It is basically a misting system and some plumbing fixtures. I fitted it to a poly barrel I got from Paul Masterson last year (Thanks Paul!) I just bought the last few plumbing fixtures for the waste water tank (which is the OTHER poly barrel I got from Paul.) You are welcome to come out and have a look. The mist gear is probably available from a garden supply place. I just bought it online. The poly barrel is upside down, with the top cut off in a "D" shape with hinges holding it on... the misters pointing down into the barrel. I have 3 steel barrels for my filtration system. I used to use the poly barrels to settle out my oil. The Blue Moon's oil took a real dive in quality towards the end, and was very very watery.... I had to let it sit for months to dewater. Nice to have translucent poly to see how well it has settled. I found another source for poly barrels... a car wash near my home. They had one sitting out, and I asked if I could have it when they were done, they said "yes." So I should have a few more soon. - -- - --chuck goolsbee 02 Jetta TDi & 06 Liberty CRD arlington, wa, usa ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 9 Jul 2007 12:53:55 GMT From: "jasonbassett-at-juno.com" Subject: Re: [db] Speak of popcorn......
