Hello Jason, This sounds like algae in your fuel tank. I had the same problem when below 1/4 of a tank. Check the first fuel filter for black bits of algae. You may be able to get away with using something like BioBor to kill it then change your fuel filters a few times to capture the "schtuff". In the tank where the fuel goes into the fuel line there is a screen. It can clog with algae. Marc Z. jasonbassett-at-juno.com wrote: > Ok, got a strange one for you all. (popcorn required) popcorn ready? :) with no word from the black hole in centralia... and basically down to two functioning vehicles, while waiting for Omega and/or Superdawg: the '99 WJ and the '91 300D. So, I've been giving some thought to a '97 to '01 XJ as a daily driver... might sell Shadowfax if that works out... tough call though, the 124 is economical, functional and what other vehicle can go 350 miles and still have a quarter tank of fuel left? but it's not a 4x4 or a Jeep... hard to haul concrete blocks, lumber and gravel... but it's a low maintenance vehicle that has a lot of class and life left... but the seats aren't worthy of a road trip, which eliminates most of the economic advantages... :( so I'm giving some thought to a nice 2001 Limited... two problems, they want money for it and it's out of state: http://wagoneers.com/XJ/rigs/XJ-2001/ other than that... no problem. ;) that and by the time I decide to go for it, it'll be sold... of course that's a good thing, a low cost decision made for me. ;) of course there are a lot of nice xj's out there, from a grand up to about seven... an XJ will get 16 mpg in town... my 124 gets 26 to 28 in town... an XJ will tow and go in snow... the 124 will not, well not well in snow. ;) but I have the WJ to tow, if it's around... with the hope of Omega returning to service... WAITING (and really don't like waiting) for... non-functional or offsite: - '91 Grand Wagoneer, Omega, was due out of the centralia monster garage 5 May 2007... no word from the "machine doc"... a 6.2L Diesel engine is being stuffed into the SJ... an SJ that has age issues and body issues, but redeemable... just going to take time and money... it'll take at least a year to really get it all setup to my liking... if ever... and a few grand... gets me panascopic vision, a solid platform for veggie oil use... a road worthy off road machine that's comfortable... it's a dream that has all the earmarkings of a mild nightmare... - - '89 Grand Wagoneer... free, but going to cost about $700 to make it a roadworthy resaleable vehicle... but worthy of rescue, totally rust free... not to mention that many of the parts are better than Omega... working with Jim Blair to get it here and together... may end up with a 304... we'll see. reminds me of Old Blue. :) - - '83 J10 Stepside, Superdawg... went down for a 4.0L conversion in spring... of 2001... due back by labor day '01, then for ouray 2002... still in pieces... fell into that black hole in Centralia... but hey, at least it's not rusting... have a rebuilt 4.2L for it, that will put it back stock... delays beget ideas... all unrealized... frustrated... - - '91 Grand Am, traded for a Warn M8000 winch. :) still waits in the driveway... almost gone... will need a receiver hitch in the front of whatever Jeep I finally end up with... won't leave it mounted all the time... - - '67 J100 Panel, Rambo... technically mine, but promised to curtis for the labor day 2001 swap in Superdawg... so ugly that it's been banished to centralia, where it keeps curtis in trouble with the local constable... of course my son wants it... hopefully the rear doors will be a pattern in our lifetime... keep that popcorn salted and buttered... :) 124, Omega or a yet to be named XJ... we'll see... :) hurry up Omega... - ----------- wj, shadowfax.... current situation... often leaves me without a tow /haul vehicle... - ----------- wj, omega, shadowfax? - current plan... after a year?, just wj and omega? - ----------- wj, xj? - simple, but not as economical... even considering insurance and fuel still more/yr. but not by much... but then again, two vehicles with oil changes, tires, wash/wax etc... hmmmm - ----------- wj, xj, omega? - two "daily driver" jeeps for me??? - doesn't make sense... omega or the xj will have to go... or maybe the wj will go and my wife will select the xj... she always picks the same vehicles that I want. :) well, almost... she doesn't pick Omega or Shadowfax... which kind of tells me something... maybe the wj/xj combo is the best scenario despite a slightly higher operating cost... - ----------- well, back to life in general... hate waiting... ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2516 **********************************
