I'm pretty sure this is the alternator... worked for a couple of weeks after the regulator was replaced... also installed a new battery... mechanic said the alternator had been rebuilt poorly before... I doubt the 190 alt will work, even the ones listed as crossing over don't. the 2.5 TD is pretty unique.... parts are very, very expensive for it... I would imagine the same applies to the 2.2l. I'll run some additional ground lines, I am getting static on AM... and a few turkey days ago I did have some jumping issues that let out some of the magic smoke. :) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com * ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 21 Nov 2007, Scott Haaland wrote: # John, # # I just had a similar problem on my chevy suburban 6.5L Turbo Diesel last # week...I pulled the alternator, sure that was the problem, took it to Kragen # and had it bench tested...turned out to be fine. Recently my engine started to make on and off a screeching noise and I could not find the source. When I preglowed the engine the alda unit made a noise like a relay on it's way out and I could feel some parts moving in it. As I had this problem and a screeching engine I had it towed to an independent Benz garage. It turned out that the fan shroud was broken and touching the fan blades. Also, no further noise from the alda unit. The mechanic said that the alda units hardly ever give problems. The new fan shroud came in 2 pieces - old one was one - The new shroud I can take out easily and in future it will be much easier to change the serpentine belt. I tried to listen for it with my stethoscope this morning, even revving the engine didn't produce it... when I got in the car and got it up to about 3,000 rpm, or whatever straight up is on the tach, I could hear it... I suppose I could get someone to operate the go pedal... but I'm not excited about sticking my head in that engine bay or standing in front of that thing with someone else at the controls. ;) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com * ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Wed, 21 Nov 2007, Wiard Pless wrote: # Hi, not always easy. I am prepared to grant permission to the publisher, but have a slight quandry. What is a "reasonable" fee? Any photographers or lawyers on the list that could offer a suggestion? I am greatly honored that my work is being recognized and hope to make something for it, at the same time I don't want to overprice myself and lose the opportunity. The book will sell for about $75 and initial print run is about 10,000 copies. After I graduate in Feb with my masters I hope to print three to four books myself... one is the Bible Summary linked on my webserver, the second is the one I've been gathering data for since the dawn of the internet... a book on Full Size Jeeps, but may also include XJs and WJs, the third book is a textbook on Computer Science, and the last is a book of some of my selected photography. While on this subject, if you're in the Seattle area, I would love to photograph your Jeep to possibly include in the Jeep book... anyway, y'all have a great Thanksgiving and I really appreciate any advice you may offer on the pricing... john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com * ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- * there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Nov 2007 21:47:10 -0500 From: Mike Frank Subject: Re: [db] OT: question on copyrights Here's the pricelist from the Klementaski collection of vintage photo-automobilia.
