I was told that Mosport didn't exist anymore... several Canadian friends in fact... told me it became a housing development... watching dream car garage they were at mosport with a bunch of porsches!!! so I goggled and found it... just like I left it in 1974. :) http://www.mosport.com/trackmap.htm we camped on turn 3. took my '68 mustang out on the track... :) in turn 5 (moss corner) my future brother in law mentioned that he thought I was going a bit fast (about 70mph) and, at that point, I learned that it's best to ignore passengers... but not this time, because I hit the brakes... just about in the apex... well, after the tires quit complaining and I got the 'stang straightened back out I was able to keep it on the pavement and make it back down the long straightway... it was a blast... we got there several days early so we had time to play. Not sure they'd let us out on the track today though... and if I am able to go back out on the track, I'm leaving the passengers behind... :) http://www.mosport.com/results70s.htm we attended these races: 1974 June 16 Labatt's Blue Can-Am Can-Am 50 laps, 122.950 miles Jackie Oliver, England Shadow DN4-Chevrolet 111.993 MPH June 16 Labatt's Blue Formula 5000 SCCA 40 laps, 98.360 miles David Hobbs, England Lola T330-Chevrolet 112.276 MPH john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://freegift.com ** http://wagoneers.com ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- there's a solution for every problem; problem is can we afford the solution? - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Dec 2007 07:16:20 -0500 From: "Richard P. Hmmmm! That sounds like an opportunity to get in on some serious motorage fun! Something that would be fun, if a total waste, would be to take a 123 turbo diesel, clog the wastegate, turn up the IP, cut off the muffler, and see what kind of fun could be had with it before something goes bang. Definitely something to try on an engine you're about to get rebuilt anyway, because it might well ruin it. But I bet it'd be really fun while it lasted! Who knows, someone that knew what they were doing could probably make one pull some good times before it blew up. Reminds me, the muffler on my '84 turbo diesel had a hole in it, so I just cut it off and piped to the back. It sounds like a flowmaster system now because of the resonator, which would be really fun, except that that's the one with piston slap that is so loud it almost obscures even the flowmaster sound. I don't particularly care on this clunker motor, but is no muffler that bad for these motors? It runs better, probably because of the improved flow and reduced backpressure, but am I going to burn the valves or something? J - -----Original Message----- From: "Richard P.
