A negative offset moves the wheel to the outside and a positive one moves the wheel to the centre of the car. For a W124 the offset is 48 - no idea whether this is neg. or pos. Does anybody know whether offset is negative or positive???? Have an extra set of 8 hole rims with an offset of 36 and therefore would like to know like to know by how much the track will be changed. Rim size - standard is 61/2J x 15 and for my spare set it's the same. Any add. info much appreciated. Wiard PS not warm enough to start measuring outside. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Dec 2007 19:19:36 GMT From: "jasonbassett-at-juno.com" Subject: [db] ALEC!!!! OOH OOH!!! Will try the 8 hole rims with195/65 tires next the spring. The seller told me that he had used these rims on his 190. Happy New Year Wiard J.B. According to what I can find from my MB CDs, a 36 offset is appropriate for 7.5 or 8 inch wide rims on a W124. I THINK offset is simply in millimeters, so wouldn't this simply add 2 x (48 - 36), or 24mm, or just under one inch to vehicle track? Not sure how one might tweak alignment to compensate. PAY ATTENTION!!!!! For my next one, I'm leaning towards finding one that the seller has fixed pretty much everything on, so the dead A/C rules this particular one out. I could fix the windows, but A/C repairs are, as we all know, unpredictably expensive. Also, it's looking more and more like I'll have to keep my current ride for another year or so. The devil you know, and all that. That doesn't mean you must stop bringing these to my attention, just in case I remember to buy the winning Lotto ticket. ;-) Alec Cordova Taylor, Texas 89 300CE, 231K > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net > [mailto:owner-diesel-benz-at-digest.net]On Behalf Of jasonbassett-at-juno.com > Sent: Sunday, December 30, 2007 1:53 PM > To: diesel-benz-at-digest.net > Subject: Re: [db] ALEC!!!!
