It sticks out of the side of the block and should have a cover on it (I think the cover screws on if I remember correctly). Remove the cover and attach the cord. Be sure to zip tie the cord in a few places to keep it under control. I have two '91's with the 2.5 turbo. One car had the dealer installed cord, the other car I installed it a couple of years ago. It's not that bad to get at and you can probably get at it from the top. Good luck starting tomorrow! We are down to 12 F right now here in RI. Probably have to plug in tomorrow too... Fred - -----Original Message----- In the Owner's Service and Warranty Information 1991 booklet I found Quote Winter Operation - Diesel Powered Vehicles Your diesel powered vehicle is equipped with an engine block heater which operates on regular household current and warms the engine for easier starting in cold weather. The use of a block heater at temperatures below 0 degr. F (-18 degr. C) will assist starting and protect the engine, battery, and starter from premature wear. Your dealer will install the block heater electrical connection at not cost to you, provided your vehicle was purchased through an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer in the United States or Canada Then there is note: This offer is valid for 12-months from the date of delivery. Unquote Tonight the temp is to go down to 0 degr. F and so far, did not find the block heater - saw the drain plug and 2 frost plugs. Understand the el. cable has to be plugged in from underneath and even then, you can feel it only.
