Ghmpf! Went back home, put the car up on jack stands. The flex plate and center support look just fine. No excess play in the or CV joints either. Well, the CV boots are cracking - not quite gone yet though. And what's this up front? The forward exhaust clamp has come loose! The big bolt that holds it on the bell housing is completely loose and rattling. The other, smaller bolt is GONE. Not sure if I need them or not... the shop charges around $400 for a rebuilt 6.2L pump... guess I need to do a compression test on my engine before I spend too much on injectors and a pump... but plan on having a spare... Hebert" Subject: Re: [db] 95 E300 Diesel fuel problem It's located on the back of the injection pump. If memory serves, it is the only item on the pump that has an electrical connection going to it. You will most likely need to remove the intake manifold to get at it. I had also forgotten that there is a pneumatic idle speed increase (PLA) that I believe bumps up the engine speed when the A/C is running. This may or may not be related to your issue. Testing can be done without disassembly, provided you have the right tools. I've attached the following procedures (will get stripped from the list): 07.1-2005.pdf Testing electronic idle speed control (ELR) 07.1-2009.pdf Testing pneumatic idle speed increase (PLA) 07.1-2053.pdf Testing, adjusting idling speed Hopefully these will point you in the right direction. Yeah, I know. I'm very close to getting it to use as a business vehicle because it's so dang nice, and I am SOOOO hooked on the long-base 126. Anybody want a slightly-rusted '77 300D with about 110k on it, which almost everything works on? It is a nice car; very presentable still. I guess I'll put it out front and see what people will give me for it. So, wonderful list, I asked the seller if he knows if the engine has been replaced/rebuilt, and other than that, is there anything I should worry about on this car? I get the impression that this thing has been so thoroughly pampered that it shouldn't require too much fiddling to keep it going quite happily for some time. Am I incorrect?
