So I'm hoping that someone else on the list has access to the data I'm looking for: Does anyone have a shop manual that would cover a '99 Dodge RAM 2500 4X4 w/Cummings turbo diesel? I'm replacing the front left bearing/hub assembly and I'd like to know the torque values for the four bolts that hold the hub to the control arm and the torque value for the spindle nut. TIA!!! When I removed the rear wheels the hub bolts that hold the half shafts to the hub were both floating around inside. A couple of months ago I had the half shafts replaced. I replaced and tightened the bolts. My question is, has this caused any damage to the bearings? I see that some grease has leaked out of the hubs. I will be removing the wheels again soon to replace the brake pads. Would it be worth my while to remove the hubs to see how things look? You'd take a 2-seater that gets a measly 40mpg over an S-class Diesel-Benz that should get 25-30mpg, will protect you in a crash (although, you'd hope it's never an issue with a classic like that,) and give up that stylishness and Diesely-klattery-koolness?? Well, if that's what you like......thanks for nothing, I'll probably end up with it.....I'm going into business for myself and need a presentable vehicle to use for it, and this is just TOO COOL! In my dream of being elected Dictator, I forgot to factor in MILES DRIVEN, thereby shooting myself in the foot... taxing taxicabs at the same rate as little old ladies from Pasadena! The busy bee of my fleet is an 11 year old Lexus with 64,000 miles on it (15mpg in town). Would the EPA lie to us about something so important? My Capitalist Tool is my 1967 VW with 220K mi. on it, except for first 50K, all done by self over the last 35 years! ...19+ mpg, no matter what and excused from smog tests; driven 1-200 mi/yr. and I even haul scrap lumber for our fireplace. Its replacement (newcomer, 2 years ago) is a 1997 Dodge Caravan people hauler that is driven 3-400 mi/yr, (16mpg). Then, there is my Garage Queen 1980 300SD that gets at LEAST 22+mpg and up, no matter what. ...on its occasional exercise runs and even a rare 300 mi run to Vegas in 3.5 hours! Also smog-check free. In 1980, the gummit rated it as the longest legged wheels available; 605 miles per tank! All except VW are on Mobil 1; none leak a drop except the Lexus. It uses tiny drips instead of bread crumbs to find its way home...?? I'm going to quit these nutty revelations right now and start thinking seriously about thinning out this cheap fleet My first job in LA was a lot boy, washing, wiping, airing up, charging, etc. on a used car lot! Fifty nine years later, I'm at it again!!! My wife doesn't even drive so I'm a chauffer too! Gotta make room to build new kitchen cabinets, etc.! Roy covering his tracks Sharp Hope neither Hillary Rob'em Clinton nor Obama ben Taxus gets wind of this idea!!!! If they HAVE to do something like this, I think the only sensible way is to forget about engine size and simply tax a flexible combination of total output of smog components, based on a FREE once a year smog check and mileage driven reading and paid for out of the tax proceeds. The size of the engine doesn't matter and neither does the size and weight of the vehicle or the gas mileage it gets; only smog output and miles driven. This will tax pollution ONLY, but I think that in the long run, it would have a tendency to increase mileage and make vehicles lighter and smaller... Roy Sharp this bill died an early death... I guess as taxpayers we better pay attention... they're coming for us at every opportunity...
