Chuck I just got done arguing with a MB dealer in Argentina over getting an injection pump - turns out MB has a habit of changing P/N's for many things in mid production so no dealer of any repute will offer you a part unless you give him the engine number. Save yourself and dad a heap of hassle and have him look up the engine number from the ID plate on the vehicle. It should be somewhere visible when you open the hood , probably on the cross member support that goes in front of the radiator or a visible patch of firewall. With that in hand, you are really ready for battle. I would suggest finding one online and then asking the store to overnight it by Fedex to wherever his next hotel stop will be, might be faster and cheaper than hunting for local dealers en-route. (was: [db] Virtual Roadside help required.) Thanks for the hints guys! I've received a ton of very useful info, part numbers, potential sources, and a good selection of service operations along his route. I've passed it along to my Dad. He & my mom made it to their hotel before dark, and have their battery on the charger. He said the car ran great all day. Thanks again to all who provided information! - -- - --chuck goolsbee 02 Jetta TDi & 06 Liberty CRD arlington, wa, usa ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2008 13:30:30 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] first tank still needs to be dialed in I think... 16.1 mpg, mostly stop and go in traffic, had the idle set too high and one of the injectors initially wasn't working well... still better than the 10 mpg it used to get. ;) john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com ** http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2008 23:02:45 +0200 From: Andreas Kreft Subject: Re: [db] first tank Am S|nndag 13 April 2008, hest Du schrieven: > still needs to be dialed in I think... 16.1 mpg, > mostly stop and go in traffic, had the idle set too high > and one of the injectors initially wasn't working well... > > still better than the 10 mpg it used to get. ;) I'd say that 16.1 mpg is a great number for Omega. Remember that you're schlepping around one hell of a car, with a lift kit and that DIY factor. Shouldn't something around 20 mpg be achievable when your bad injector is firing correctly and you ease a bit on the go pedal? Tomorrow I hope to take our new family car for a little drive, a CLK 320 CDI cabrio. Dieseling around northern Germany with the go pedal nailed to the floor whenever possible, I am expecting something between 15 to 20 mpg. Despite the fact that a clattering engine doesn't work well with all the things a CLK is all about, I'll see what kind of mileage I can work out. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 13 Apr 2008 17:50:36 -0400 From: Edward Pomeroy Subject: Re: [db] first tank Not bad John.
