Well, let me just say, it's a pleasure to provide you all with entertainment. Uhm...well, you see...ah...it actually was the right part. You see, the front of the window was off track, and I'm actually feeling pretty lucky right now that I didn't bust the new glass. I got it back on track, and the new regulator is working like a champ. Now I have a spare motor from the old assembly. YEAH!! Plus, the dismantlers gave me a 1 year warranty plus replacement labor if it goes bad in the first year....not bad for $67 (regulator + motor). I just want to make sure everything is greased up before I seal up the door. What kind of grease do you use on the tracks? They are plastic runners, so regular dino grease doesn't seem to be a good idea... Thanks for listening.... Good thing the enviro-whackos weren't around back then. The new diesels with all the electronics would have lost the war for the "civilized" world. Good old all-mechanical engines that keep on going. I'm going to be using grandfathered-in ones in classic Benzes until there aren't any left. J - -- chuck goolsbee wrote: >you'll need to post those pictures on a website somewhere and send the link... I'm not sure what I'm running at... the AMC gauges are for entertainment purposes only usually. :) Can you tell me what that mark is? I have mostly Amsoil synthetic ATF in the trans, but that's it. I need to fix a few oil leaks and make sure the filter clears the axle after fixing the springs before switching it over. Already have the oil, just waiting. I have the Amsoil air filter on the engine too... rear axle ratio is 3.31. john ----- - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com ** http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ ** - ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On Tue, 22 Apr 2008, Eric Ditwiler wrote: # how hot are you running? # I have found that 5 degrees celsius is worth about 2-3 mpg in my 1982 300CD. # # I played with T-stats 'till I found one that opens at 85 # that, a 2.88 rear end from an '85, Amsoil everywhere (engine, tranny, rear # end, fuel tank), # high flow air filter, low rolling resistance tires, and DN SD265 nozzles and # I can get 33 going 60 on the highway. # # Eric Ditwiler # Director, Academic Operations # Harvey Mudd College # # On Apr 22, 2008, at 11:09 AM, john wrote: # >The drivetrain must be settling in. The WVO/UMO thing is very appealing to me: free power. But I just thought of another handy-dandy application: electrical generation! ebay id 330229685080 It says the HP requirement for diesel is about 73. I am quite sure I can turn a MB OM616 IP up to be able to push 73HP (they're rated at 67) and I should be able to have a veritable power party! Power my house and the neighbors with free WVO! I know one guy who has a similar setup, and he says he runs on 4 gallons of diesel for 8 hours at half load. That means that with a 55-gallon drum, I'd only be reloading it every week if I ran it 24/7. I guess my question is, I think I can up the IP to 73HP (9% increase) pretty easily, but does anyone think otherwise? Besides, it won't need all those ponies unless I REALLY load it up (more than 3 houses usually draw-good grief, 208/416 amps!) so I think it would be great. Anyone differ? ------------------------------ End of diesel-benz-digest V1 #2731 **********************************
