I went into the driver's door, found the connector. Then found a similar connector in my horde, made an "insert"... fiddled with two different sets of relays until I hit on the right combination... then programmed the alarm and it's working... has a few extra features I hadn't expected, but will live with... (locks the doors when the engine is running... not really needed, I don't go places where I need to lock the doors while I'm in the vehicle... ;) So, that leaves getting the A/C and cruise working and the motor mount redesign. a/c shouldn't be too hard... cruise is just a bracket (I hope)... found a guy scrapping a 6.2, so mounts are only a few weeks out... :) only got about 16 or so in town again... too much weight, too many lights, too heavy of a foot... ;) will probably take the 300D to Boise... tomorrow night I need to lube the speedo cable on it. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold http://wagoneers.com john's 6.2L GW: http://wagoneers.com/FSJ/Omega/ SAVE FUEL use AMSOIL Synthetics: http://wagoneers.com/AMSOIL - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2008 07:55:56 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: [db] Re: fsj: alarm system question I got it working last doing basically what you've said here. However, I didn't cut the harness, I added a connector into the wiring harness using the same type of connector with the break and the relay in that module. If I could get more of those connectors and that nice little relay module I could sell a plug in setup for alarms for the GWs. If the relays on the top of the a/c were easier to get to that would have been a better location. :) thanx again! and thanx to paul for his offline assist as well... appreciate all of the help and advice. You get actuation for as # long as you hold the switch up # or down. See previous post. There is technically # no "Lock" or # "Unlock" wire, the pair simply have their polarity # reversed. # # Forget what I said before about relays, I had a # chance to look at the stock # circuit and you can do it with the relays they # gave you. The trick is that both # lock actuator wires are grounded if a switch is # not activated, they have you cut # the wires in order for the relays to unground the # proper high side wire and # connect it to 12 V, no need to do anything with # the other wire as it is # grounded by default. The remote system simply # actuates the other relay to # change directions. # # The down side is that you must cut the wires # between the door lock master switch # in the driver's door and the first split in the # wire loom in order to get the # all of them to work together. # # The easy thing might be to connect the alarm # system into the connector where the # factory keyless entry module used to go. Take a # look at the "Lock" and # "Unlock" relays, the only thing that triggers them # is the factory # keyless entry system. If those relays are # installed in your vehicle you only # need to connect the two wires from you alarm # system to the coils of those # relays and good things will happen. # # I'll try and take another look at the diagram they # gave you if I get a break # tonight, I working overtime tomorrow morning and # sleep will be at a premium. # # Be aware that I'm typing this between calls out to # fix broken machines and # pumping grease into working ones! # # GAS # # # Quoting john : # # >I may try to redraw the schematic as well...
