That sounds like a filter problem. Don't let them sell you a transmission rebuild until you have changed the filter and checked it out. Fluid level looks okay. In fact I noticed for a while now that when it was cold it would take a little longer to shift from first to second. After it was warmed up it was fine. Not sure what that means though. I'll be calling places now :( Jim - --- john wrote: > bummer... have you checked the trans fluid? > > maybe just a simple fluid/filter change will clear > the problem, > or maybe the linkage came off... let's hope it's > nothing serious... > > just got back from the top of a 6,000 foot "hill"... > drove > up to bogus basin, guess boise is at around 2,500 or > so... cleared > 6,000 feet at the top... went up the last few miles > with the a/c > off... didn't want to find out whether my cooling > system was > really up to the task... :) > > got more pictures, but playing around in SuSE with > VirtualBox OSE setting > up WinXP in a bottle, where it belongs. ;) also > downloading SuSE 11.0 > and Mozilla Firefox 3.0... whoo hoo... :) three > great open source > downloads, all in one day. :) > > we pull out of boise around noon, hope to get back > to pendleton, oregon > before the sun sneaks under the sun visors... ;) > saturday we'll head > up to yakima and possibly up 410 to Chinook Pass > just east of Mt. Well unfortunately this is the worst of circumstances. Breaking down in a foreign city where you know no one and don't know who to trust. My son and I had to leave the truck behind and take the train home today. I got very good recommendations for a particular tranny rebuild place and I talked to him extensively and he seems on the up and up. Of course that's hard to tell in a half hour of talking. But he claims that on these trannys if the filter would clog the truck wouldn't move at all. So the only way to really tell what is wrong is drop the tranny and open her up. So, worst case is a new three year warranty Chrysler tranny for around $3000. I can live with that. That should last me another 150k miles and by then who knows what will be left of the truck. I'll know more by Monday afternoon.... Stay tuned... Jim - --- "Potter, Tom E" wrote: > That sounds like a filter problem.
