If you are not already aware of it, it is a mashup of google earth features with mapping and a multiple search engine. I was searching for 40" wide or better mechanics tool chest on wheels and it plotted out all the ones available within 50 miles of my home. Pretty neat features. Seek anything you are looking for and put in parameters on distance. http://findnearby.net/ ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Sep 2008 17:40:35 -0400 From: Jon Filina Subject: Re: [db] Nifty search engine for - stuff - That's cool! It had low profile large diameter tires. It handled poorly, jarred you on bumps, got crappy mileage and had an awful looking instrument panel. One of the worst cars I've ever driven. It didn't fare too well in the crash either (well, neither did the Focus...) I think I figure out what happened... on the way back from church this morning coming down the hill there is this one section of SR9 that curves kind of funny, if you look at the center stripe it is worn off... it's not a natural curve and one tends to swing left when heading northbound, down the hill... I've thought about this section a few times, especially when towing a trailer down the hill, it's a very awkward section, but wide enough and with enough visibilty that it's not usually a problem... in ice/snow I've seen folks spin out here... if one was an inexperienced driver, tired, or distracted they might veer too far over into the oncoming, uphill center lane... if the driver coming up the hill was illegally in the center lane (supposed to be in the right lane except when passing) then they would have met about where they did... the driver that was northbound, downhill, was most likely in the Focus, was 19 years old... apparently she is at fault, and Lord willing, both drivers will survive and the insurance companies will go with the no-fault policy in our state in this case and no lawyers will be enriched. follow up info on Herald's website seems to support my analysis: (I was there why the Herald photographer was taking his pictures, if you look through my pictures you'll see him taking the pictures, if he had a wide angle it might be this one: http://wagoneers.com/fotos/2008/09-Sep-13-SR9-crash-n-lumber-for-carport/P1060721.jpg http://heraldnet.com/article/20080914/NEWS01/809139975/-1/NEWS#Head-on.collision.closes.Highway.9 Head-on collision closes Highway 9 Herald staff A head-on collision Saturday afternoon south of Snohomish on Highway 9 sent two injured Snohomish County residents to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and blocked traffic for hours.
