My college-age son is tired of bumming rides off of dad and his friend. He's also tired of walking up and down the hill. But he cannot afford to insure anything with four wheels. So we're looking for a small cheap motorcycle. Went up to the city and looked at something called a Honda 500CX the other day. An interesting design: a water-cooled V-twin with the engine on top of the transmission. The engine turns this way, the transmission turns that way. This particular 500CX alas looks like it was stored in a swamp. Every surface is either rusted or corroded. It started with difficulty. Took a look in the gas tank - there was green scum floating on top of the gas. He remembered that there was a motorcycle sitting in front of his friend's house. A Honda CB450. Figured they wouldn't mind selling it. We went and looked - - it actually looks nicer than the CX, but the engine seems to be frozen. You can stand on the kickstarter and no motion. We came back out with a can of P-blaster and squirted a bunch in each cylinder. Still wouldn't budge. I told him to wait a couple days for the P-blaster to work. Pluses on this one are new tires front and rear. And a sale price of $100 :). - Jerry Kaidor ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2008 08:06:57 -0700 (PDT) From: john Subject: Re: [db] Re: xj: Diesel options it would be a nightmare...
