Got the XJ to start first time this morning (it was taking 3 attempts at least previously), I replaced the copper washer on the injector of #3 cylinder, it fixed my "hard to start" issue (yay!). While I'm on the subject.. why would one cylinder without compression cause the other 3 not to fire? Thinking about selling our '96 Diesel XJ Sport for something like a '97 E-Class estate.. (Petrol or diesel), anyone had one of these? Any comments on it? I know the paint is a bit thin compared to a W123 or W124 which has a knock on effect of rust on front wings + bonnet lip.. anything else in particular to look at? This caught my eye.. http://www.carzone.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carid=1205040 Steve ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Sep 2008 08:32:30 -0700 (PDT) From: Jim Hoffman Subject: Re: [db] Re: fsj: RE: snohomish monster carport update Well, if you search eBay for "Cummins 4BT" you'll find an engine/trans unit together, a few Chevy conversions (one that claims 20-25mpg) and others. I'd recommend verifying the specs/issues there... and mike's vehicle is a '99... so it's possible that the '97 may not have the same issues... but to answer your earlier question steve, the newest benz I've owned is my '91. john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 26 Sep 2008, Kevin wrote: # Yup.
