I usually figure stuff out on my own by laying underneath the car and analyzing it... I guess that's why I like full size jeeps... I don't need to jack it up to do that. ;) I'm sure we have the expertise on the list... richard has been this deep, and possibly mike and a few others... btw, went down to the eastside this morning to pick up a new nikon d200 (used but still in box) and saw a nice '85 or so 300CD turbodiesel coming out onto 520... I like my 124 series too much to go back to the 123, but it was a nice gray and looked really sweet... of course I've had two of them, they're miserable to get into the backseats... :) john ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 26 Sep 2008, Stephen Rigley wrote: # Hi John, # A friend of mine is replacing the rear suspension on his W124 coupe (see # below), any hints or tips? # # "Started on the Merc tonight, thought I would change the suspension arms # over and leave the subframe until I had a helping hand. Cool, couldn't remember who it was that made the TDI adapters. John, seriously, though, if you want the easy way, you need to drive the landcruiser. Came with a diesel and a five speed when I bought it, mid twenties on the highway with 31x10.5 rubber. Not a powerhouse, but quite a machine nonetheless. Pay a little more than I did and try to not get one as rusty. Either way, after replacing the suspension with an old man emu lift and putting some used 32s on it (when the 32s wear out, I'm running 33s), I'm way under what you spent on the grand wagoneer. And have a ARBs front and rear, with a winch. The drive's pretty close to a waggie too. If you're considering going this route, there's a few things to know about them so you can make your choices a bit better. Yes, there are automatics that will bolt to the six cylinder if you don't want a clutch, and yes, you should drive mine next time you're down this way. I like the multifuel capabilities of any diesel. :) at this point I have the J10 (well, not here) so I should look at what I can do with it... no big hurry... still need to finish building the shop/carport then retrieve superdawg... it would be nice if curtis actually put it back together, but I think that's more than I can hope for at this point in time... will be quite happy to get all the parts on the next run. ;) not sure when I'll be down in the bay area again... never know... no plans at this point... but one never knows when an urgent email will come in asking if I can teach a Linux/UNIX(hp-ux,solaris,etc.)/scripting class somewhere... :) ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://wagoneers.com/johns-vehicles.html - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Fri, 26 Sep 2008, Kevin wrote: # Cool, couldn't remember who it was that made the TDI adapters. # # John, seriously, though, if you want the easy way, you need to drive the # landcruiser.
