Those are pricey repairs when performed by a mechanic, and at the age and mileage of your car these would likely need the repairs if they haven't been done. They could probably make the difference between $3,000 and $6,000 price range. Alec Cordova Taylor, Texas 08 smart fortwo, 9K On Tue, Oct 14, 2008 at 4:20 PM, Kevin wrote: > An 82 is turbo. I think the coupe getting low 30s is a turbo. IIRC, JB had a turbo coupe that got 28 being driven fairly quickly. For another data point, the 78 used to get 28 when I drove it. I don't track town mileage since I generally drive about four blocks in town from the freeway to the office, the rest is highway as I live off the highway like John does. The 78 acted like it had a tired slug, or at least a miss. I replaced one of its injectors, but never really messed with it all that much - I figured 28 mpg out of a non turbo with the numerically higher non turbo rear was as good as it was going to get, then just drove it. Oh, and suspension work on these is cheap if you DIY.
