Fitted into three standard-production E320 CDI models, the 224-horsepower engine, set to replace the existing five- and six-cylinder inline engines beginning in summer 2005, covered distances of 100,000 km, 50,000 miles and 100,000 miles respectively in world-record times. More important, especially to Mercedes, it did so without any technical problems, which will help restore some gloss to Mercedes' tarnished brand image. The 100,000 miles was covered at an astonishing average speed of 139.699 mph b^T the best ever recorded by any car. ----- - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Snohomish, Washington -o|||||o- where Jeeps don't rust, they mold SAVE fuel: use synthetics: http://www.AMSOIL.com/redirect.cgi?zo=283461 SAVE power: use LINUX: http://johnmeister.com/tmcp.pdf http://wagoneers.com http://gunbanobama.com/ http://freegift.com - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 23 Oct 2008 23:06:12 -0400 From: Marc Z Subject: [db] '83 300TD lack of vacuum Hello Everyone, Today, on the way home, I rolled up to a stoplight and pressed the brake petal. It barely moved and I had to use a lot of force to stop. I now have all of the classic symptoms for a loss of vacuum. Check all connections under the hood and they're good. I'm wondering. This indicates the vacuum pump but might it be the brake booster? This brake system on this euro wagon has an anti-lock system but I know it doesn't work (having recently tested it in a panic stop). Looking at www.buymbparts.com there are two repair kits. One for a valve based pump and the other for a rocker arm based pump. How can I tell which pump I have?
